Sertoma Centre, Inc. Sertoma Centre, Inc. is a nationally accredited, non-profit agency
that provides services to nearly and New Star have merged, effective October 3, 2023.

The merged organization will be renamed Sertoma Star Services. After completing a thorough assessment of the organizations and receiving approval from state agencies, both boards agreed that combining resources will have a greater impact in serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and those living with mental illness. The merger will create a large alliance for individuals

with intellectual/developmental disabilities and those living with mental illness. Sertoma Centre and New Star have a collective 120-plus years of supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Each organization provides unique services that will benefit the consumers/members. Sertoma Centre has strong mental health services, providing opportunities that empower individuals living with mental illness to achieve personal success throughout the south suburbs. New Star provides unique recreation services, supports people in Indiana, and has a strong person-centered model. Both organizations are committed to community-integrated employment and smaller facility-based day services. began in 1971 as a job training center that provided employment and training opportunities for individuals with disabilities. While the Centre experience significant growth in the past 50 years, our mission of providing opportunities that empower individuals with disabilities to achieve personal success remains steadfast. Attaining our vision of all people with disabilities living, working, and fully participating in their community is the focus of our work.

Our Story

Sertoma Centre provides support to nearly 2,000 individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities and those living with mental illness. Our services include vocational evaluation, developmental training, community-based assessments, senior programming, work adjustment training, residential services, janitorial skills training, foster care, job placement services, supported employment, specialized services, school transition services, psychosocial rehabilitation, and a sheltered workshop program. Sertoma Centre also operates nine residential homes and oversees individuals in a number of intermittent living arrangement situations.
