We are an exotic animal sanctuary dedicated to animals born into captivity who are ignored and abused We are one of only twelve big Cat Sanctuaries in the US.

Lions, Tigers & Bears is a federally and state licensed non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue facility dedicated to providing a safe haven for unwanted and abused exotic animals. Our goal is to provide a safe haven and to educate the public about the growing population of abandoned and unwanted exotic animals in our nation. Sadly, in many areas of the United States, there are countless big cats and wild exo

tics in private captivity. The number of animals bred and born in captivity is currently greater than that in the wild. Many of these animals are born into a life of abuse, ill-health, crowded conditions and ultimately an early and painful death. The exotic animal trade is a 17 billion dollar a year industry, second only to drugs and weapons. Many private owners purchase these exotics without enough information about the amount of care they require and then struggle to find an organization to off-load them. Zoos will rarely take these animals and sanctuaries count on the support of donors to help them pick up where humanity has left off. Founder, Bobbi Brink, notes the conditions that many of the animals live in: "...in miserable holding cells with no sunlight or windows, living in cages so small they barely have room to stand up or turn around. Many live in basements, never seeing sunlight or smelling fresh air. I have seen 10 or more cats crowded together in a small enclosure, where they restlessly pace in filth, and fight each other for scraps of food. Some starve to death. A full grown exotic cat costs about $15.00 a day to feed ($450.00 a month-just for food!)"

Teddy is on a permanent holiday here at Lions Tigers & Bears.

Our rescued Himalayan black bear knows how to enjoy a sunny day… stretch out, soak up the sunshine, roll onto his back and relax.

Himalayan black bears are a subspecies of the Asiatic black bear and are recognized by the distinctive, crescent-shaped marking on their chest. In the wild, they are found throughout mountainous regions of the Himalayas and are excellent climbers, using their powerful bodies and claws to navigate trees and rugged terrain.

They are omnivores, with a natural diet that can include fruits, nuts, roots, insects and other available foods. Sadly, Asiatic black bears face serious threats in the wild, including habitat loss, poaching and exploitation for the illegal wildlife trade.

For Teddy, those days are behind him.

Today, his agenda is a little simpler: sunshine, belly-up naps, good food and enjoying the safe, peaceful home he deserves.

Today we had Love on the Spectrum star David Isaacman at the sanctuary for his Honorary Animal Keeper training.

This special recognition honors David Isaacman for his incredible compassion for animals and his generous support of our rescued residents.

Our rescued coatimundi Ringo loves saying hello as we walk by his new habitat!

Curious, playful, and always keeping an eye on what’s happening around the sanctuary, Ringo has quickly made himself at home at Lions Tigers & Bears.

We love seeing this little guy thriving and enjoying his new surroundings. Just listen to that greeting!

Join us Saturday, August 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a special community event with Love on the Spectrum star David Isaacman as he celebrates the release of his new children’s chapter book, The Big Five Save the Lions.

Admission to the book signing is FREE.

Meet David, purchase a signed copy of his new book, and spend the morning supporting rescued animals and wildlife conservation.

Guests will also enjoy a special enrichment experience with resident tigers Moka and Nola, shop our pop-up gift shop, learn about sanctuary memberships, enter our Stay the Night at the Sanctuary raffle, and purchase an optional guided sanctuary visit for an even closer look at our rescued animals.

Rocky knows how to beat the summer heat!

Our handsome grizzly bear is enjoying a juicy watermelon from the comfort of his bedroom… and judging by that face(and the sound), we’d say it’s a big hit.

Watermelon isn’t just a tasty treat. Special foods like this provide enrichment by introducing different tastes, textures and smells while encouraging natural behaviors.
