Duck Park is located along the scenic Thunder Bay river and provides unobtrusive areas to park vehicles, to go on walks, and to do recreational activities. The park also provides an important space to appreciate nature, and the wildlife service provides multiple STEM activities to the children of Alpena like River Rats, Science in the Sanctuary, and kayaking tours.
Despite being surrounded by water, many children in Alpena have not had the chance to utilize the kayaking services provided by the park, but those who have had the chance to try the kayaking services have said that they enjoyed the opportunity and would do it again. Kayaking allows people to fully observe and appreciate the natural beauty of the park. The wildlife sanctuary has gotten multiple grants and donations to help with the construction of an observation deck, a shed for kayaks, and more opportunities to allow youth to enjoy kayaking and relax.
However, the wildlife sanctuary still needs some help with funding!
All donations will go towards maintaining the kayaks and kayaking materials, maintaining the observation deck, maintaining the accessible ramp, maintaining the natural beauty of the park, and the continuation of current STEM activities for children.
The sanctuary needs $1,500 in donations currently, but that can easily be achieved! Any amount of money donated is greatly appreciated. You can donate through this link: https://www.cfnem.org/funds/give.html?fund=501
