👻 Spooky & Scary Adult Recs 👻

Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky
For fans who like their horror a little WEIRD. If you enjoyed Josh Malerman’s Incidents Around the House or Chuck Wendig’s The Book of Accidents, give this one a try.

“A mother and her young son escape an abusive past, only for her son to disappear into the woods for six days. When he returns, he’s not quite the same… and something supernatural may be waiting for them.

Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
Maybe you skipped Titan: The OceanGate Disaster (Netflix, 2025) because watching a real-life tragedy unfold is just too heartbreaking. Totally fair.

But if you’re still interested in deep-sea terror, try this fictional nightmare instead: a research team heads to the Mariana Trench and discovers killer mermaids.

Model Home by Rivers Solomon
For fans of Tananarive Due’s, The Reformatory or Sarah Gailey’s Just Like Home.
A pair of siblings return to their childhood home after their parents’ mysterious deaths. Family trauma, racism, buried secrets, and a house that may be haunted?

Ready to get creeped out? You can also reference our main display on the first floor for more books recommendations.

🎃 IT’S HORROR SEASON: TEEN RECS 🎃

Looking for something spooky, creepy, or just a little unhinged? We’ve got you covered.

Clown in a Cornfield series
For fans of Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer who love their slashers with a little humor, camp, and self-awareness.

“A new teen in a divided, outdated Missouri town fights back when local adults in creepy clown costumes start a murderous game.”

House of Hollow
For fans of Wilder Girls and Don’t Let the Forest In. Perfect for readers who love creepy nature, strange magic, eerie atmospheres, and bodies that become something… unearthly.

Three sisters vanished as children and returned changed and unearthly. Years later, the eldest disappears again—and her sisters must uncover what happened.

There’s Someone Inside Your House
A masked killer is stalking high school students, amassing victims while wearing 3D-printed masks of their face. While exposing their darkest secrets along the way.

Liked the book? Try the movie! There’s Someone Inside Your House is also streaming on Netflix.

Stop by the library and pick your next scary read… if you dare. 👻
