PSA: For those who were joining our Facilities Committee meeting via Zoom, our internet went down as we went into closed session (which is not broadcast). It remained down when we came out of closed session and adjourned. No business was conducted after we came out of closed session. Some members of the public joined the meeting to witness the adjournment.

We usually do not address public comments on this page, however, it is important we try and prevent misinformation regarding the county to ensure it not be spread.

Earlier this morning, an individual posted that "Blackwater LLC has chosen to step away from the contract...the commissioners cannot break the fair or 4-H contracts now...Everything stays the same as if the past moth never happened...the zoning goes away..."we" don't have to make any repairs..."

1. Blackwater LLC has not notified the county that they intend to step away from the contract at this time.

2. There is a 10-year contract with the fair board that can be voided so long as 90-days' notice is given. There is no current contract for the upcoming fair as one has not yet been presented. There never has been a contract with 4H.

3. Many issues have been brought to the county's attention regarding the condition of the grounds and the operations. There will be adjustments to address these issues regardless of whether a contract with Blackwater LLC exists, or not.

4. The fairgrounds zoning matter must be addressed. This was something that was unknown previously, but now that it has come to light must be reconciled.

5. Repairs obviously must be made to the property. This is not news and all parties should expect to address any liabilities before further events take place - again, regardless of whether there is a contract with Blackwater LLC, or not.

We hope this offers clarity and corrects any misunderstanding.
