Lapeer County is updating the County Hazard Mitigation Plan for a planned April 2027 adoption. Community input matters in the update to the plan. This plan helps to identify hazards and to develop strategies and projects that may reduce the impacts and threats associated with identified hazards, both natural and human or technological. Participating in this process and updating the plan will also ensure that the County remains eligible for State and Federal mitigation funding to support different projects. All residents and business owners are encouraged to take a few minutes and participate in this process by completing the public survey. The deadline for survey submissions is March 31, 2026. Your input will help to strengthen our community’s resilience.

Notice:

When the ground is still frozen and we get rain instead of snow, the water can't soak into the ground. That means we see a lot more runoff flowing into road ditches and drains.

How you can help:
-Check your culverts, driveway pipes and storm drains
-Clear away debris, leaves and sticks
-Remove any remaining snow piles blocking water flow

Keeping these areas clear helps water move downhill properly and reduces the chance of road flooding or washouts.

Thank you for helping protect our roads and drainage systems. Stay safe and watch for standing water on roadways.
