One of the best parts of EMS isn’t the aircraft, the trucks, or the equipment—it’s the people. Watching dispatchers, first responders, ground crews, and flight teams work in unison reminds us that excellent patient care truly is a team effort. The camaraderie, teamwork, and shared purpose are what make this profession so rewarding.

Shout out to Western Buffalo County Ambulance Service for excellent patient care and Alma Fire Department for setting up a safe landing zone for our crew.

🚑 EMS WEEK 2026 Improving Outcomes, Together 🚑
In 1974, President Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS professionals and the important work they do in our communities. This year, the theme is 'Improving Outcomes, Together', something WBCAS has been striving for since our inception in 1970. EMS and Fire/Rescue departments from Buffalo County gathered in Alma this weekend for a large scale Mass Casualty Incident training exercise, ensuring we are ready for an event we all hope never occurs... WBCAS Squad Captain Hayley Auseth spearheaded the EMS side of the training, providing the more than 20 volunteer 'victims' from the mock car versus school bus crash with cards describing their injuries and conditions so responders had the opportunity to rapidly assess and triage in conjunction with the Fire Departments who were tasked with extrication. Thank You to everyone involved with making such a large scale event happen, we always enjoy the opportunity to work with our friends and neighboring departments.
