The Buffalo County Treasurer’s Office has sent out Notice of Issuance of Tax Certificate letters to unpaid 2025 taxes. This is to notify you that your property taxes are outstanding and if remain unpaid for two years it will become eligible for tax foreclosure.

We wanted to bring some clarification as to the County's involvement with repairs to various Rail Crossings recently and activities in those areas. The County has not been involved with those repairs or other activities at all; the repairs are being done by BNSF and associated contractors hired by them. There is some continued work being done on STH 35 near the Fountain City area and that is being done by a DOT contractor, not the County.

There were some misperceptions circulating and wanted to bring some clarification. Thank you!

📢 Condemnation Commissioners Sought

Buffalo County is seeking individuals interested in serving on the County Condemnation Commission.

The Commission plays an important role in determining the amount of just compensation to be paid to a landowner in non-highway condemnation projects, such as utility right-of-way acquisitions.

Qualified applicants should:
✅ Be a resident of Buffalo County or an adjacent county
✅ Have no direct or indirect personal interest in a project being considered
✅ Be able to act fairly, impartially, and objectively during the hearing process

Serving on the Commission is an opportunity to contribute to a fair and transparent process that protects the rights of property owners while supporting important public projects.
