A “Forest Carbon Workshop” will be held on September 22, 2026 (9 am - 3 pm) at the Burke County Office Park Auditorium (Waynesboro, GA 30830). Topics include forest carbon basics, forest carbon markets, and opportunities and considerations for Georgia forest landowners. This workshop is FREE to attend. Lunch will be provided. CLE Category B - 4.0 hrs and CFE Category 1 - 4.0 hrs are offered.

If hydrangeas are on your garden wish list, fall is an excellent planting season in Southeast Georgia. Cooler air and still-warm soil give new plants time to establish their roots before the heat of next summer arrives. When choosing a spot, remember that most hydrangeas appreciate morning sun and afternoon shade. And don’t forget to give them plenty of moisture while they’re getting established.

Calling Southeast Georgia Citrus Farmers! A Citrus Cooperative Workshop will be held on Monday, September 14th at 6:30 p.m. at the as VOVRC located at 8163 Hwy 178, Lyons, GA 30436.

This workshop is designed to bring SE Georgia citrus growers together to explore the next steps toward forming a regional citrus farming cooperative. Growers interested in participating in the discussion and helping shape what a cooperative could look like are encouraged to attend. Speakers include Aubrey Shirley (Tattnall Co. Ext. Coffee County Extension will host peanut maturity clinics on the following dates from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. noon at the Coffee County Extension Office located at 709 E Ward Street, Douglas, GA:

Sample Tips:
1. Sample peanuts nearing or at 120 days old.
2. Pull a good, representative sample for a more accurate profile.
3. Bring peanut vines to assess any potential peg strength issues.
4. Take different samples if more than one variety in the field.
5. Bring samples of 180-200 pods, include all large and small pods.
6. Know plant date, variety, vine condition, and disease pressure.
