Thank you!

Each visit to the Garden Project Resource Center tells a story: a family starting their first garden, a seasoned grower expanding their harvest, a neighbor discovering the joy of growing food. With tens of thousands of seeds and plants shared this season, we’re cultivating more than gardens, we’re cultivating community, resilience, and the belief that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy food! 🪴

Yesterday at the garden our youngest and oldest gardeners finished with potatoes! And one of our friends from the Community Cafe asked if her favorite- cherry tomatoes- were ripe. So we looked. I was surprised.

Not yet- but tomatoes 🍅 and sweet peas are starting to come along!

Peas are in bloom, and tomatoes are on the vine.

We planted several of these beautiful, edible, and easy-to-grow nasturtiums among our tomatoes and tomatillos yesterday. They deter some pest bugs and trap others. They also attract pollinators that eat the pests. They add color and charm to the garden and can be included in salads or used as garnishes.

Remember when we all used these for recycling?

Well, the Community Garden is hoping that a few of you still have em, and are willing to donate them to us!

We need only 2 or 3. But NOW! For a planting project. Please comment, and if you can-leave your recycling bin by our produce stand.

Warm weather is here and so is the Community! Visits between the fence about gardening- neighbors with raspberries 😋. A group of young gardeners gave this one a break while we shared about growing beets, tomatoes and other veg.

We’ll be in the garden tomorrow evening after 7pm (Tuesday the 9th) weather permitting.

This post is for Gardeners!

If you’re interested in growing potatoes- message us. Or keep an eye on our posts. We just got some lovely potatoes via Greater Lansing Food Bank Garden Project grown by MSU.

We can’t plant until the rain comes through (thank goodness it’s coming!) But we’ll have leftovers 😊

Our garden is getting full!
