We are always excited to share the accomplishments of our team members. Huge congratulations to Sgt. Chris Drury on his graduation of the MSU Staff and Command Program! We have an excellent team at the City that is committed to continuing their professional development to provide our residents with the best service possible. Sgt. Drury is the latest example of this. Thank you for your service to this community!

After successfully completing more than 400 hours of executive-level training through Michigan State University’s Staff and Command Program, Sgt. Christopher Drury graduated today.
This intensive program is designed to develop current and future law enforcement leaders through advanced instruction in leadership, management, organizational effectiveness, and contemporary policing issues.
Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Drury on this significant professional achievement and his continued commitment to excellence in law enforcement and service to our community. We are proud of his dedication and accomplishment.

Downtown Construction Update:
GOOD NEWS: The asphalt is complete on Superior and N State, and at Center and N State!! The barricades will be removed soon and these intersections will be open!

State Street from Superior to Center will remain closed, until the asphalt crews can complete that work.

Summer Reading Club officially kicks off today at the Alma Public Library! Join them at 10:00am for the kickoff party! Then tonight, weather permitting, the City of Alma Parks and Recreation say hello to summer with a fun family event in the park as part of their Tuesday Evening's in the Park series. So many great events happening in our city and we appreciate everyone who makes these possible!

The Alma Farmer's Market begins today! Stop downtown and check out the vendors and businesses downtown that are having sales today. A beautiful day to shop local!

The stamped concrete crosswalks have been poured. The next step is to lay the asphalt. The plan was to pour asphalt on Tuesday, but with rain in the forecast over the next few days, the asphalt company's schedule may be pushed out, so next week's schedule is to be determined. The detour route will remain until the asphalt is complete on Superior Street. The parking and businesses along Superior Street WILL REMAIN OPEN during this time.

Alma Farm Market Open This Saturday Morning!
The first day of the Alma Farmers Market is set for this Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 8 am to 1 pm, on N State Street next to the Alma True Value Hardware. The water main project and will not affect the Market. Shoppers can access the parking lots off of Downie Street to visit their favorite Alma Farm Market vendors.

Downtown Construction Update: W Center Street is open from Lincoln Avenue to Park Street! The barricades related to this portion of the project have been removed. The Downtown Detour remains in effect since the water connection at Center Street and State Street is still open. Center Street is open to local traffic.

We have ANOTHER amazing opportunity to join the City of Alma team, this time in the Water Department! We are currently accepting applications for a Full-Time Water Technician. The Water Tech will assist in the operations and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant, participate in construction projects and water main breaks, and complete new taps, hook-ups, and shut-offs, as well as other related duties as assigned.
