Hope in the Park tonight at Wright Park in honor of world su***de prevention day! City of Alma Parks and Recreation will be there along with many organizations in our community with lots of valuable information as well as food, games, and entertainment.

Today is world su***de prevention today, and we are again joining Child Advocacy and Gratiot Integrated Health Network for the now annual tradition of Hope in the Park! This is a wonderful community fair in Wright Park from 5 to 7 pm in support of mental health awareness and sharing the resources available in our community. Come enjoy inflatables, games, and a free picnic dinner of hot dogs!

Congratulations to the Alma High School Band for absolutely crushing the national anthem at the Detroit Tigers baseball game tonight! You were awesome and made Alma proud! It's been so much fun seeing the park packed with Panther Pride tonight. Now let's go Tigers!

The Annual Lucky MacDuck Day Celebration will take place this Saturday, September 12th in Highland Park. Proceeds from the event go towards local arts initiatives.

Back by popular demand, the Alma Public Library, City of Alma Parks and Recreation, and Friends of the Alma Public Library have teamed up for the return of the ever popular Riverside Cemetery Tour on Sunday, September 27th. Take a guided stroll through the cemetery and learn from volunteer actors and actresses about some of the interesting history behind local residents who reside there.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday, September 8th at the Alma Public Library. There are a limited number of spots, so make sure to get your tickets early!

Alma welcomes DALMAC Riders today, September 2nd, and tomorrow, September 3rd. As you drive around the community, please watch for extra bicycles on the roadway.

We are excited to welcome the riders on the DALMAC - Dick Allen Lansing to MACkinaw bike ride to Alma today and tomorrow! Thank you to all of those who have volunteered to bake treats for the riders or volunteered to help out today and tomorrow as more than 600 riders are expected to make a stop and check out our beautiful community. Welcome riders!

We would like to take a moment to say thank you to the Gratiot Area Chamber of Commerce, MDOT, Progressive AE, staff, SLIPR, and everyone else that played a part in celebrating the expansion of the Alma Transit Center last Monday. The space is both beautiful and functional and will go along way to support transportation in Alma, St. Louis, Ithaca, and Pine River Township for many years to come.
