America just completed its 250th anniversary. Here is a picture from the Bicentennial in 1976. This was the Allouez float in the Green Bay Area parade. The float featured a replica of the Cotton House, which is now located at Heritage Hill. (Picture is from the Green Bay Press-Gazette.)

The postcard below shows a steam engine from the Chicago & North Western Railroad crossing over the swing bridge over the Fox River. The bridge connected Allouez to the westside of Green Bay. The postcard was made for the Jorgensen-Blesch company, a major dry goods company in Green Bay from 1888 to the early 1930s.

Allouez has a long history, with its roots dating back to 1669 when French Jesuit Father Claude - Jean Allouez first explored and set up a presence here.

In 1856 the broader town of Bellevue was established, covering the land east of the Fox River.

In 1874 the area of modern Allouez separated from Bellevue.

In 1900, Allouez was incorporated into the Village of Allouez.

Below is an 1889 map of Allouez & Bellevue townships.
