5 caterpillars joined our center a few weeks ago. We enjoyed watching them crawl around, cocoon and emerge beautiful butterflies. When the time was right we had a little butterfly release. What a beautiful spring day!

Happy Tuesday folks! Take a look at this article. There will be road work starting today in our area. Be aware it might take a little longer to get to our center while they work on 910. Everyone travel safely. We are open our regular business hours.

Another fun filled week at the center! On Tuesday, West Deer Parks and Rec department treated us to a catered luncheon and awesome entertainment. Every year they treat us to this event and it’s a favorite day for sure. Then on Wednesday we celebrated Older Americans Month at Senior Fest. A crew from our center took a trip to The Shriners in Cheswick, and enjoyed the event! Lots of venders, live music, free lunch and raffle prizes!!!

Happy Mother’s Day! We celebrated this important day in true center fashion: with food, punch, laughs and bingo!

Another perfect spring day, another perfect outing! An adventurous group met at Deer Lakes Park today for a few laps around the lakes. It was sunny, breezy, warm and lots of fun. We all worked up quite an appetite so we all went to Deer Creek Diner after the walk. We had a yummy lunch, good service and great conversation. What a great way to spend a beautiful afternoon.

The West Deer Senior Center will be closed on Thursday, April 23, due to logistical challenges related to the NFL Draft. Road closures throughout the Pittsburgh area will impact our lunch delivery. With the lunch program, and other challenges in mind, we’ve decided it’s best to close for the day.

We hope everyone enjoys the day off, and we’ll reopen as usual the following week!

Our Easter Party was a HUGE success!!! And when I say huge, I mean huge! We were packed, barely any empty seats to be found! Lots of laughs, lots of great bingo prizes, a yummy lunch and lots of cute bunny ears.

We want to send a special thank you to Concordia for donating five generous prizes we were able to raffle off. That was very thoughtful.

The Rivers Casino group trip was a huge success! Some of us came home with much fuller pockets, some of us came home with totally empty pockets, but we all came home happy after a fun day out with friends!
