Engineering Technician
This position shall:
• Possess a bachelor’s or associate degree in civil engineering, surveying, construction management or a related construction-based field.
• Knowledgeable in the principles and practices of construction, civil engineering and surveying.
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD design software.
• Strong skills in GIS, excel spreadsheets, Microsoft word, Outlook email system and other related computer programs.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plan sets and blueprints.
• Experience in construction inspection, communication with contractors, and material testing.
• Knowledge of construction materials and methods and safety regulations.
• Ability to use surveying equipment and to perform basic level and topographical surveys.
• Conduct themselves in a professional manner.
• Must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License.
• Salary Range: $50,800 to $63,100.

• Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Some specific functions are:
• Perform engineering work directing the design and construction of a variety of public and private improvement Civil Engineering projects through the direction of the City Engineer.
• Inspect construction projects completed by contractors, maintain records of materials used, create quantity reports.
• Ability to work with the public, other government agencies, City employees, City Council, contractors, architects/engineers, and utility companies in a professional and courteous manner.
• Be able to communicate with citizens to clearly and correctly handle questions/concerns that they may have.
• Work requires considerable judgement, initiative, and professional knowledge with the responsibility for making technical decisions on engineering problems.
• Oversee the investigation, planning, design, and construction of complex capital improvement projects including streets, bridges, drainage, water, sewers, pump stations, traffic related items, etc with assistance of the City Engineer.
• Review drawings of surveys and private construction projects to ensure adherence to local standards.
• Manage and assist in the maintenance of the City mapping system, including streets, zoning, utilities, address maps, and GIS system.
• Retain permanent City records, scanning of drawings, and electronic filing.
• Assist the Engineer with setting and enforcing department policies, procedures, construction standards, and regulations.
• Prepare letters, reports, spreadsheets and CAD drawings for the Department and others.
• Assist with surveys, issuance of permits, traffic studies, in-house designs, funding applications, payments, budgets, and all other related work deemed necessary for the operation of the Department.
