Sunday, we had a couple of our members participate in the Wade Main Memorial Golf Outing at Pleasant View Golf Course. We are happy to be able to sponsor a hole for this outing and that it goes to a good cause. Hope everyone had a fun time!

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed. On September 11, 2001, unimaginable tragedy struck, but out of the ash arose stories of unparalleled bravery, sacrifice, and unity.
Today, the men and women of our department pause in solemn remembrance of the 2,977 innocent lives stolen from us across NYC, Arlington, and Shanksville.
As firefighters, this day holds a profound and permanent weight. We carry the legacy of the 343 FDNY firefighters who ran toward danger while others ran away, making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We also honor the 71 law enforcement officers, 55 military personnel, and the countless emergency workers and public servants who answered their final call that morning.
"Never Forget" is not just a phrase we say once a year. It is a daily promise to honor those who died, support the survivors and families left behind, and carry their dedication forward every time we put on our gear and answer a call.
To the heroes of 9/11: We stand on your shoulders, we carry your memory, and we will keep the promise.
May we always remember. May we always honor. May we never forget.

This morning we had an unusual call, a tree service lift stopped working while raised. There were concerns by the workers about the backup release so they called for us. Our ladder tower was utilized to reach the worker and Lt Zahler went up in the bucket to assist them into our bucket and safely get back down to the ground. Everyday is a different adventure for us on the department.

Busy morning this Labor Day! No injuries to any firefighters, but the oocupant did get transported by EMT to the hospital. Great stop by 2nd shift personnel, kept the fire to one room and the hallway area. Thank you to all our mutual aid departments and our members who were able to come back into the station to cover the city.

Last night our Local members were able to celebrate the recent retirements of Assistant Chief Ted Johnson and Lieutenant Bill Yarnell. Our Cheif, Jason Hunt was kind enough to speak about who they were as people and their careers on the department. We definitely miss the experience and knowledge of both, but it is always nice to get our retirees together with the current personnel and listen to the stories. Thank you to all who helped with set up, cooking and cleaning up. Hope everyone that was able to make it had a great time. We also were able to pass out some over due plaques to some of our other recent retirees.

Yesterday, our 3rd shift personnel trained in rope rescue at the Alliance Casting property. It is always good for us to get our hands on the gear and train in a live scenario. This allows us to take our time, know the gear, and do the work in a controlled environment. That way if or when the real event may happen we are prepared and it is second nature for us.

On monday prior to the regular council meeting, Mayor Grove swore in our newest probationary firefighter Adam Blaisman. We want to welcome him to the department! He is a third generation firefighter in his family and we look forward to having him in our ranks and watching him grow with the department! Congratulations Adam!!
