We'd like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Michele Rankin.

Beginning in 2024, Michele has been donating her time and expertise as a financial coach to work 1-on-1 with each of our Transitional Housing residents.

This service has been integral in our residents' ability to meet their financial goals and be better equipped to achieve permanent housing. Her time and dedication has been so instrumental to our housing program. 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙚!

Congratulations to our YWCA Memorial Scholarship winner, Jenna Heslop, and our Geography Bee Scholarship winner, Andrew Chunat.

The Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to one high school senior pursuing postsecondary education who aligns with the YWCA mission and demonstrates outstanding leadership and community involvement.

The Alliance Middle School student who wins the National Geographic Geography Bee is awarded the Geography Bee Scholarship upon reaching their senior year of high school.

This award is presented each year to someone who fully embodies the the qualities of justice, leadership, and a strong spirit of service to others. It recognizes a volunteer who consistently goes above and beyond expectations.

Caitie Scott exemplifies exactly what the Fullmer Volunteer Leadership Award stands for. She has served willingly and effectively as a board member for several years, and this past year, she has served as the YWCA Board President. She has been a true model of what YWCA membership is and should be. Over the past year, she has excelled in leading the transition in YWCA leadership and providing invaluable guidance to the Board of Directors. Remarkably, she has accomplished all of this while balancing her responsibilities as a full-time professional, mother, and wife.

📣 YWCA Alliance Hygiene Drive 📣

We are currently seeking full-size hygiene products for our Hygiene Bag Program.

Over the last few months, we have seen a significant increase in the need for hygiene products, and our current inventory can't keep up with the demand.

If you're willing and able to contribute to this drive, products can be dropped off to our office at 239 E Market St, Alliance, OH 44601. Thank you!

ABC Kids is our annual effort to provide Alliance community students with the supplies they need to go back to school each fall ✏️📒

Our goal with all of our youth programming is to level the playing field and remove barriers. We focus our efforts toward students enrolled in our Summer Explorers enrichment program, children residing in our YWCA Transitional Housing, as well as other children in need in Alliance.

Join Haines House - Alliance Area Preservation Society for the newly created Freedom School!

There will be 4 school sessions in 2025. Each session will be a screening of a Black focused film, followed up by a community discussion.

🍿Popcorn and beverages will be provided for free!

These schools will ask you to think critically. Please come prepared to empathize and empower one another. All school sessions are for ages 17+ ONLY . Students under 18yrs will require a parent/guardian to acknowledge at time of registration.

YWCA Alliance’s Kids & Teens Cooking Classes have become an annual programming staple!👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Teens aged 10-15 who enrolled in the class joined Chef Tammy each Thursday of February to learn a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert recipe. In March our smallest chefs, age 4-9 joined us and brought a special guest to learn and create delicious meals!

Teaching basic cooking skills to kids and teens isn’t just about meal preparation—it’s about empowering them with essential life skills that will serve them well into adulthood. These skills help them become more self-sufficient, boosts their confidence, and fosters creativity through experimenting with flavors and recipes.

When young people learn how to cook, they gain the ability to take care of themselves in practical ways. They have to gather ingredients, manage cooking times, and learn basic recipes. These tasks require organization and prioritization, which are key life skills that will serve them well in school, work, and other areas of life.

In today’s world, kids and teens often have limited opportunities to explore hands-on, creative activities that don't involve screens or expensive equipment. Cooking classes offer a perfect balance—participants can have fun, learn something practical, and build confidence without breaking the bank.

We are thrilled to be able to offer this valuable, low-cost opportunity for fun, personal growth, and socialization.

The kids all did an amazing job! Curious minds want to know...How many of our parents are sick of eating Toad In The Hole? 😄🍳
