Halfway through fair week at The Great Allentown Fair!

We are here from open to close on both the midway and in the arena.

We want to send a special thanks to the Emergency Preparedness staff at Jefferson-Lehigh Valley Health Network for providing a portable medical center for our staff to assist patients in.

It is a welcome addition to our on site medical plan.

Also, we want to thank Macungie Ambulance Corps for partnering with us with our trial of EMtrack by Juvare. It has streamlined our patient tracking and management. They also loaned us a Starlink for our infield staff. These upgrades drastically improve our capabilities.

The City of Allentown Paramedics join the entire EMS profession in mourning the death of Randolph "Johnny Gage" Mantooth.

The television series "Emergency" paved the way for modern paramedics, and an entire generation of responders got their first taste of EMS through the weekly antics of Johnny and Roy.

The show was responsible for the development of Paramedic programs around the world, and Randolph was an ambassador of EMS until his death.

His legacy will live on.

As we close out National EMS week we would be remised if we didn’t acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our part time and per-diem staff, and our hardworking administrative team.

These folks make up Allentown EMS and keep us going.

Part-Time - Doug Gernerd

Per-Diem - Andrew Dalpezzo, Rose Denommee, Brock Dalton, Crystal Diaz, Tom Fuehrer, Hailey Gianoni, Andrew Glass, Daniel Gordon, Justin Hilbert, Brett Keane, Angelica Kirkpatrick, Tyler Kunz, Dominic Lombardo, Jonathan Pozniak, Donald Rogers, Ben Schearer, Shannon Scoble, and Ryan Weir.

Administration - Kristen Vargo, Melody Newhard-Kirk, and John Bower

As we celebrate this week, we also celebrate the 50th year of Allentown EMS.

What started as Cardiac Care Technicians with Police Officers for drivers has evolved into the first rate EMS organization we are today.

We are grateful for the support of our Mayor, City Administration, and City Council, for the daily support of the Allentown Fire Department and Allentown Police Department, and for the folks in the garage and technical services who keep us on the road.

Allentown EMS is not one person or one idea. Our success is because of every member of our staff and every level of city administration who work together to ensure the residents of our city have someone to come when they call for help. That is the reason we were created 50 years ago, and patient care is why we still do it.
