Today people from all walks of life will gather to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. This is a remarkable day even though the United States is still striving to be a more perfect union. The third Monday of each January has been set-aside as the only federal holiday to recognize a person of Black African Heritage, and a religious leader to boot. As we spend our day remember the sacrifices that have been made, and think about the commitment you will make to achieve a more perfect union.

As we conclude our 6th year, I take a moment to contemplate the remarkable journey of the young minds I've been fortunate to observe maturing during this period. Although the adage proclaims that children are the future, it's evident that this notion alone may not entirely encapsulate our reality. To genuinely safeguard and shape the future, it's imperative that we unwaveringly champion organizations and endeavors dedicated to nurturing our youth. Equally vital is the personal responsibility we must shoulder for the welfare of the young minds we bring into this world and those within our community.

Resurrected Life Children's Academy has secured a 5-year contract to offer FREE Pre-K Counts to eligible families within our community. Applications are now open for the 2023-2024 school year for 3 and 4-year-olds. To be eligible, your child must be 3 years old by September 1.

The James Lawson Freedom School Servant Leader Interns are returning to their universities and colleges over the next few weeks. They have become educators, mentors and big brothers and sister to 170 scholars this summer.
I hope this experience empowered them to see themselves within the children, pushed them to strengthen their empathy and patience. From our first training to the last day we discussed the dangers of white supremacy and the power of standing in our black brilliance.
They will always be apart of our Freedom School family and movement! Have a phenomenal Fall season.
