nurtures community and connection in Allentown by fostering a sense of community among our neighbors who have traditionally been marginalized and by cultivating connections across social boundaries. Social connection is considered a core psychological need, though it is one that is easily overlooked when we consider the complex—and often more visible—needs of people who are displaced, homeless, or

living below the poverty line. (RCI), our mission is to meet this need for community and connection for Allentown residents. RCI serves Allentown residents who are socially and economically marginalized due to homelessness, social disconnection, isolating physical and mental health conditions, histories of trauma and abuse, and related difficulties. We address our communities’ needs with programs that facilitate true and lasting change in the lives of our participants. Through our core programs – the Community Building Center and RCI Village housing program – we provide housing, supportive services, and community and social connections for struggling residents of Allentown.

🎈 Last week, we launched a new Workforce Readiness program in partnership with Ripple Church, Ripple Community Inc., and Valley Wealth Alliance.

This 8-week cohort is designed for neighbors facing real barriers to employment, including those experiencing homelessness and individuals on disability navigating complex work rules.

What makes this program different is how everything comes together. From financial literacy led by Valley Wealth Alliance to the relational work of helping participants identify their strengths and build meaningful connections, this is about more than jobs. It is about long-term stability.

The interest has already exceeded capacity and we are looking forward to what comes next.

This work is made possible thanks to the support of First Northern Bank and Trust Co. and partners who believe that WE is greater than ME.
