Communities in Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania Surrounding students with a community of support to empower them to stay in school and achieve in life

Founded in 1983, Communities In Schools of Eastern PA serves more than 35,000 students across 40+ schools in 10 school districts. Part of the Communities In Schools national network, CIS of Eastern PA is an independent 501(c)(3) organization working to better educational outcomes for students in Northampton, Lehigh and Berks Counties. Providing over 35 years of academic support and resources, CIS

of Eastern PA is a trusted leader that our community can count on. At CIS of Eastern PA, we see potential in every student and are committed to helping them see it, too. Students across our region face overwhelming roadblocks to their academic and personal success - learning disabilities, homelessness, bullying, emotional effects of trauma, untreated medical conditions, lack of school supplies, clothes and food. We're in schools to spot and overcome the roadblocks in our students' way, so that all kids have the same opportunity to succeed.

This May, we joyfully celebrated our annual Ready, Set, Graduate! event, honoring more than 100 remarkable students for their dedication, resilience, and personal growth 🎓

We were thrilled to present four exceptional students with special scholarships: the Joan Benner Fuller and Chandler-Barnes Scholarships, each receiving $1,500 to support their educational journeys after high school.

One student beautifully expressed, “True resilience does not require outward perfection… CIS provided a safe space where I didn’t have to be a perfect student. I could just be a person in recovery.” Such inspiring stories fill us with optimism for the future!

Believing in every student means showing up, especially on the hard days đź’™

At , our staff stands beside students through every challenge and every breakthrough. They are there to remind them of their worth, their potential, and the power they already have within.

Because sometimes, what changes everything is knowing that someone believes in you, even when you are still learning to believe in yourself.
