Are you an avid fan of Bridgerton? Have you already binged the entire show, and are just waiting for the next season to come out? Well, we’ve decided to pair up a beloved Bridgerton with a piece in our collection!

Introducing our pick for Benedict! Do you agree? Let us know in the comments!

We will be posting a new Bridgerton every week, so stay tuned to see what artwork we’ve matched with each one!

This painting by Stewart Ashlee captures a quiet, intimate moment, perhaps between two lovers. Similarly, Benedict and his love interest, Sophie, share various unsupervised scenes together. You can almost picture Benedict using her as his muse for his paintings telling the story of their romance, much like Ashlee to the woman in this painting.

Stewart Ashlee, “Untitled (Woman Dressing),” Oil on Board, 2019.68.52, Gift of Laura Rose Ashlee and Dean L. Anderson.

Up Next is Anthony! Do you agree with our pick? Let us know in the comments!

We will be posting a new Bridgerton every week, so stay tuned to see what artwork we’ve matched with each one!

After falling in love with Kate who originally hails from India, Anthony moves there to raise their son. However, this is not just the only association with the chosen artwork, but rather that the two of them share an intimate moment in a garden much like the couple in the painting.

It’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!

First proposed in 1977, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Week became a month-long observance in 1992. While it’s important to celebrate heritage months and to honor Asian American Pacific Islander artists in May, the GVSU Art Museum collects and exhibits works by artists of Asian heritage all year long.

For more information and resources on Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, check out https://asianpacificheritage.gov/index.html
