GVSU Arctic Ecology Program The AEP examines the effects of global change on Arctic ecosystems. Please feel free to contact us with any questions about our research! Hollister.

The Arctic Ecology Program (AEP) at Grand Valley State University is housed in the Biology Department and is led by Robert D. The focus of the program is to examine the effects of global change on Arctic ecosystems. The two primary sources of global change examined are human disturbance and climate warming. The program does research in northern Alaska and extensive outreach activities. Grand Valle

y students are encouraged to get involved and do research. Students can apply for hire and/or do independent study for course credit. Members of the community are encouraged to contact Dr. Hollister to discuss polar and global change issues.

In the words of our friends at the Owl Research Institute: "Check out this preview of Magic of the Snowy Owl! In 2011, English film makers, Fergus Beeley Productions, joined us in Barrow, AK to create this documentary about Snowy Owls. They were a pleasure to work with & we are excited to see the film premiering on PBS Oct 24th!"

A team of filmmakers set out to record the rarely observed daily lives of a breeding pair of snowy owls. Magic of the Snowy Owl premieres October 24 at 8/7c.
