On Tuesday, members of our staff visited People Helping People in Pullman to learn more about their programs, and how we can partner in providing transportation resources.
People Helping People has a beautiful outdoor playscape, created in partnership with the ODC Network's Outdoor Discovery Center
The playscape is open to the community (closed during after-school programming hours).

Michigan recently passed new recycling laws that require all 83 counties to update their Materials Management Plans (MMP). One of the key goals is to increase the state’s recycling rate from 25% to 30% by 2029.

Allegan County is developing a regional plan to improve how materials are managed, including waste disposal, recycling, and composting. Your feedback will help the County understand community needs, identify opportunities, and guide future investments and services.

Allegan County Transportation offices will be closed for normal operations on May 25th, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day.

Buses will be running for riders who receive regularly scheduled life sustaining medical procedures. Riders who receive recurring trips for employment are encouraged to call our office at (269) 673-4229 to confirm their ride is still needed; confirmed ride requests will be accommodated as routes will allow.

Our offices will reopen for normal service on May 26th.

Los autobuses seguirán funcionando para los pasajeros que reciben procedimientos médicos de mantenimiento de vida que regularmente obtienen servicio. On Tuesday, our Transportation Director attended the Community Transportation Association of America conference in Omaha, Nebraska, where she joined a sustainable fleet panel. Led by the Propane Education & Research Council, the panel explored the benefits of utilizing propane Autogas powered vehicles in p***c transit fleets. Since introducing the propane vehicles to the fleet in 2024, Allegan County Transportation has seen a decrease to the operating cost per mile, saving upwards of $10,000 every month in refueling costs.
