ANHS .VS SANTA ANA before football game:
Santa Ana residents and a council member posted on a Santa Ana page very negative posts on the occurrence of what happened at Friday Nights game. My response was:
I’m actually appalled that people would go to the extent of hurting an entire school and now a community of Aliso Viejo for their own agenda. Heck! The city is a Spanish name.
I may have the name Selinsky, but I was born “Suarez”.
I’m Hispanic! Mexican, Spanish, and Native American Indian and proud! I am fluent in Spanish, educated, and give back to my community.
I lived in Aliso for 22 years.
I had a son die in Santa Ana.
I had a son graduate from Aliso Niguel.
I have a son now at Mater Dei HS in Santa Ana.
I have friends that died at 9-11 and I fly still with brother and sisters in the airline industry.
Our school last week dressed in red, white, and blue to be patriotic and stand with America’s loss in 2001 as well when we played La Mirada.
We are united in such a tragedy because we live in the USA. My cousin died on a plane on 9/11 (Suarez, Hispanic). As you read so many people stating that they feel discriminated, your tone and racism flows through your words and all the name calling? South County is not what you say it is. Aliso community united and keep the school and city close as we all were one another’s neighbors. How dare you talk about another race too as you mention people speak to you that way. Aren’t you doing the same as well as being a hypocrite??? Not everyone in Santa Ana are Mexican or of Hispanic decent. I have a very good friend, lawyer living in Santa Ana over 21 years amongst dozens and dozens of friends and clients in real estate that live in SNA. It’s the continued racist remarks and disrespect that circles like a merry-go-round. You are no better than the student that made the poster that was taken down. And shame on the principal of Santa Ana to shake the hand of the Aliso Niguel HS principals and hug her as well that everything was taken care of. Then, turn around and contact the media. Get your facts straight.
I am by far “NOT” a Trump fan, but he is our President and we have both political parties as well as others in all areas of OC. Working and having a school in Santa Ana I’m knee deep in the city that I enjoy dining, entertaining, and educating my son in. I am at the Santa Ana Stadium every fall for football too and proud to state I’m in Santa Ana 19 hours of most days.
For now we discuss a student that created a poster, that was taken down before the game started! Both principals discussed the poster as mentioned and to ANHS’s understanding it was handled. Do we make mistakes as humans? As parents? Yes! We learn and teach our children right from wrong.
America gives every person that immigrated here or born here an opportunity and if you cannot embrace students saying, “USA”, you are the one with the problem!
If, you shook hands with someone and thought the problem was resolved, would you be angry and disappointed ? These are both two educated and understanding adults that control two great schools.
An apology should be made to Aliso Viejo and ANHS for creating division amongst cuties, families, and friends for their own agenda. As for the OC Register and many of you, should get your facts straight and stop the chaos you’re creating as well.
(Well said Holly Turner and Alina Castro Dela Nuez your comment persuaded me to post this because you are right).
Michele, we know one another from Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. I respect you and understand you’re commenting on what you believe is right, but I think it’s pertinent to get facts considering you represent the city of SNA as a Council member. When we are the voice for many, we should be cautious when making social media stands on a matter we are not 100% of. I have spoken as a mentor throughout high schools for Hispanic young women speaking up and getting educated for a future and that knowledge is something no person can take from you. Therefore, I’m careful when I voice topics that can be political. We can agree to disagree. I’m ok with that, but felt compelled to give you the truth that is spoken in Aliso Viejo.
