On September 9, 2026, at approximately 1:40 p.m., the Aliquippa Police Department was dispatched to PA Route 51 Northbound near Station Street for a reported motorcycle crash.

Upon arrival, officers located a motorcycle and crash debris in the roadway, along with a utility pole that had been sheared as a result of the collision. The motorcycle operator was identified as a 19-year-old male. The operator had succumbed to his injuries.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of PA Route 51 were temporarily closed while officers secured and processed the crash scene.

During the preliminary investigation, officers identified and interviewed an eyewitness who observed the motorcycle immediately prior to and during the crash. The witness reported observing the motorcycle traveling northbound on PA Route 51 at a high rate of speed. According to the witness, the motorcycle appeared to become unstable, with the front of the motorcycle oscillating from side to side before the operator lost control, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole.

This remains an active and open investigation. Although officers have interviewed an eyewitness to the crash, investigators are asking anyone else who witnessed the crash, observed the motorcycle traveling on PA Route 51 prior to the collision, or may have any additional information relevant to the investigation to contact the Aliquippa Police Department at 724-378-8000.

Today, the Aliquippa Police Department joins Americans across the nation in solemn remembrance of September 11, 2001.

We honor the nearly 3,000 people who were taken from their families, the first responders who answered the call without hesitation, and the brave men and women who served our country in the years that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness shown on that day and in its aftermath. May we never forget those we lost, those who gave everything, and the strength and unity that brought our nation together.

ALIQUIPPA POLICE DEPARTMENT – WANTED PERSON

The Aliquippa Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Matthew Craig, W/M, 30 years of age, of Monaca, who is currently wanted on an active arrest warrant stemming from an assault that occurred on September 10, 2026, on Spring Street in Aliquippa.

The investigation alleges that during an altercation, Craig struck the victim in the face with a metal paint roller, causing a severe laceration above the victim’s eye that required medical attention.

Following the incident, Craig continued to contact and harass the victim, after knowing the police had been contacted.

Craig is currently wanted on charges including:

Aggravated Assault
Intimidation of Witnesses or Victims
Terroristic Threats
Simple Assault
Disorderly Conduct

Officers attempted to locate Craig at his residence and made several attempts to contact him by telephone. Craig did answer a telephone call from an officer, however, he failed to turn himself in or report to the police department to speak with officers when requested.

Another successful operation in Beaver County today!

The Beaver County Drug Task Force and Pennsylvania State Police, with assistance from HIDTA partners, executed a search warrant at an Aliquippa residence.

This investigation resulted in the seizure of one ounce of co***ne, one ounce of ma*****na, three fi****ms, a gr***de launcher, and approximately $1,000 in cash.

Great work by everyone involved! We appreciate the continued collaboration among our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners and their work to remove illegal drugs and fi****ms from our communities.

Cruelty to Animals Arrest

On August 19, 2026, the Aliquippa Police Department received a report of suspected animal cruelty involving a dog at 400 Superior Avenue, Valley Terrace B Building.

During the investigation, officers reviewed video evidence that allegedly showed a male forcefully jerking a small dog upward by its leash, lifting the dog off the ground. Officers also investigated a separate reported incident in which the same individual allegedly struck the dog multiple times in the back/spinal area, causing the dog to yelp in apparent pain.

Officers obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence. The dog was safely removed and turned over to the Humane Society for care and evaluation.

Following the completion of the investigation, on September 2, 2026, Christopher M. Hughes Jr., W/M, 22 of Aliquippa was charged with two counts of Cruelty to Animals under Pennsylvania law.

FIRE INVESTIGATION

On August 26, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Aliquippa Police Department and Aliquippa Fire Department responded to Towne Towers, located at 434 Franklin Avenue, for a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel located a small fire involving refuse and/or clothing in a common hallway on the third floor of the building. The fire was extinguished, and officers and firefighters checked the building to ensure the safety of residents and determine whether any additional hazards were present.

The Aliquippa Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire. At this time, the cause of the fire has not been determined, and no individual has been identified or charged in connection with the incident.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in or around Towne Towers during the time leading up to the fire, or who has any information that may assist investigators, is asked to contact the Aliquippa Police Department at 724-378-8000.

FI***RM, RESISTING AND TRESPASS ARREST

On August 26, 2026, at approximately 11:53 p.m., officers on patrol for the Aliquippa Police Department encountered two males trespassing on Aliquippa High School property. Both individuals were dressed in all-black clothing and one male had his hood raised while the other was wearing a partial face mask.

As officers made contact with the individuals, one male fled from officers while the second male attempted to flee and initially resisted officers’ attempts to take him into custody. After he was secured, officers recovered a fully loaded G***k semi-automatic handgun concealed in the waistband of his underwear.

The individual was identified as a 16-year-old juvenile male from Aliquippa. He was subsequently lodged in a juvenile detention facility on charges related to the fi***rm, resisting arrest, and trespassing.

A perimeter was set up around the area where the second individual fled. A search of the area was conducted with negative results. The Hopewell Township Police Department and PSP assisted per our request. We thank them for their assistance.

The second individual who fled was later identified as a juvenile, and charges against him are pending.

On June 15, 2026, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers from the Aliquippa Police Department were dispatched to the 100 block of Carroll Street for the report of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers located an older adult male victim who had sustained serious injuries after being assaulted by two males. The investigation revealed that the dispute began when the victim confronted the suspects for trespassing on his property, which was clearly marked with “Private Property” and “No Trespassing” signs. The investigating officer determined that the victim was not armed with any type of weapon during the incident.

During the altercation, one of the suspects, later identified as Emere Mason, B/M, 27, of Ambridge, pointed a handgun at the victim, threatened him, and pistol-whipped him multiple times. Mason, along with Benjamin Ridley, Jr., B/M, 20, of Aliquippa, then assaulted the victim, causing severe facial and body injuries that resulted in several teeth being knocked loose or out. The victim suffered significant bruising, swelling and bleeding as a result of the attack. The suspects also forcibly stole the victim’s cell phone and wallet and removed his pants during the course of the assault.

Ridley was located a short time later in the Valley Terrace B Building area and taken into custody. Mason remains at large, and an arrest warrant has been issued for him.

A search warrant was executed on the vehicle that was operated by the suspects during the time of the assault. During the search, officers recovered a f***y pack containing identification belonging to Mason. Officers also seized approximately 20 grams of co***ne, 27 grams of crack co***ne, and ma*****na from the f***y pack.
