🔥 HEAT ADVISORY – CITY OF ALICEVILLE 🔥

A Heat Advisory will be in effect beginning Wednesday, September 2, at 11:00 AM through Saturday at 8:00 PM CDT. Heat index values could reach up to 107°F, creating an increased risk for heat-related illnesses.

Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of water, stay in air-conditioned areas when possible, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. If you must work outdoors, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.

⚠️ Please remember:

* Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and others who may be vulnerable to extreme heat.
* Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
* Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
* Heat stroke is a medical emergency — CALL 911 immediately.

Please take this advisory seriously and look out for one another throughout this period of extreme heat.

🔥🚒 NATIONAL FIREFIGHTER DAY — FIREFIGHTER APPRECIATION 🚒🔥

Today, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank the dedicated men and women who answer the call to serve, especially the members of the Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department.

Being a firefighter is more than putting out fires. It means leaving your family to help someone else’s, responding at all hours of the day and night, training when no one is watching, and being willing to step into danger when others are trying to get away.

To my firefighters: THANK YOU. Thank you for your courage, sacrifice, dedication, and commitment to our community. I am proud to stand beside each of you and even prouder to serve as your Chief.

And to firefighters everywhere, career, volunteer, and reserve, we recognize you, we appreciate you, and we thank you for answering the call. 🚒🔥❤️

🚨🔥 NO BURN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE — CITY OF ALICEVILLE 🔥🚨

Due to extreme heat and dangerously dry conditions, all outdoor burning within the City of Aliceville is prohibited until further notice.

🚫 No open burning
🚫 No barrel burning
🚫 No burning of brush or debris
🚫 Burn permits WILL NOT be issued until further notice

These conditions significantly increase the risk of fires spreading quickly and becoming difficult to control. We ask everyone to please take this notice seriously and help us protect our homes, property, first responders, and community.

We will notify the public when conditions improve and burning is permitted again.

🚨 EXTREME HEAT ALERT – PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS 🚨
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Heat Alert for portions of Central Alabama through 9:00 PM Monday, August 17.
🌡️ Heat index values could reach as high as 113°F.
These dangerously hot and humid conditions can significantly increase the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
🔥 PLEASE STAY SAFE:�• Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.�• Limit strenuous outdoor activities, especially during the hottest part of the day.�• Take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.�• Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.�• Check on elderly relatives, neighbors, and anyone without adequate air conditioning.�• NEVER leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle — even for a few minutes.�• Outdoor workers and first responders should take frequent hydration and cooling breaks.
⚠️ Know the signs of heat-related illness. If someone shows signs of heat stroke, move them to a cooler location and CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY. Heat stroke is a medical emergency.

Fourth of July Fireworks Safety Message

As we prepare to celebrate our nation’s Independence Day, the Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department encourages everyone to enjoy the holiday responsibly by making safety a top priority.

The Fourth of July is one of the busiest times of the year for fire departments due to fires, burn injuries, and other emergencies related to fireworks. While fireworks can be an enjoyable part of the celebration, they can also cause devastating injuries, property damage, and wildfires when used carelessly.

The Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department asks all citizens to keep the following safety tips in mind:

* Only use fireworks that are legal in the State of Alabama and follow all local ordinances.
* Never allow young children to handle or ignite fireworks.
* Keep a bucket of water, water hose, or fire extinguisher readily available.
* Never relight a firework that fails to ignite. Wait at least 20 minutes, then soak it thoroughly with water before disposing of it.
* Never point or throw fireworks toward people, homes, vehicles, or animals.
* Keep spectators at a safe distance from the discharge area.
* Avoid using fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
* Never use fireworks near dry grass, wooded areas, or combustible materials.
* Fully extinguish used fireworks by soaking them in water before placing them in the trash.

Please remember that pets, veterans, senior citizens, and individuals with sensory sensitivities may be affected by loud fireworks. Be considerate of your neighbors and celebrate responsibly.

If you notice a fire or any emergency, immediately call 911. Do not attempt to fight a fire that is growing beyond your control. Leave the area and allow trained emergency personnel to respond safely.

The members of the Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Independence Day. By taking a few extra precautions, we can all help protect our families, neighbors, and community while celebrating our nation’s freedom.

2nd Annual Fireworks Show! July 4, 2026 8pm

On May 19, 2026, at approximately 11:30 AM, the Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire near the 1500 block of Carrollton Road. Upon arrival, the residence was fully engulfed in flames.

Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department, along with Summerville Volunteer Fire Department, worked quickly to rescue several of the homeowner’s dogs and successfully bring the fire under control.

Chief Derrick Jones would like to personally thank Summerville Fire Department, Aliceville Police Department, Alabama Power, Vyve Broadband, Pickens County Ambulance Service, the citizens who assisted during this incident, and Pickens County E911 for their dedication in call-taking and keeping responders informed during active situations. Your support, teamwork, and willingness to help were greatly appreciated.

A special thank you also goes out to the members of the Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department for their quick response, hard work, and dedication. These men and women are truly the heart and soul of this department.

Please continue to keep the family affected by this fire in your thoughts and prayers.

Severe weather may be the initial threat, but it could transition into more of a flooding threat as we move into the evening. Storms will produce heavy rainfall and could move over the same areas. Here is the probability that rainfall will exceed flash flood guidance.
