I grew up low-income when I first moved to the U.S., and I know firsthand how important food is above all else. Food affects everything—our health, our ability to focus in school, our energy at work, and our dignity as people. For many immigrant families in the San Gabriel Valley, even something as simple as grocery shopping isn’t safe. With ICE still present in our communities, U.S. citizens, green card holders, and visa holders alike are being harassed. People carry their U.S. passports to protect themselves, but the fear is real—families have been illegally targeted by masked strangers with guns, unmarked vehicles, and no warrants. No one should live with the fear of being torn from their home, deported to a country they don’t know, or risk dying in ICE custody.
At the same time, the situation in Gaza remains dire. Children are starving, denied adequate care, and the suffering continues daily.
That’s why we’re gathering as a community. Join us TOMORROW (Tuesday, 8/19) at 7pm at Nucleus (210 E Main St, Alhambra, CA 91801) for a fundraiser dinner. For just $10 a plate, you’ll not only share a meal with us—you’ll help support food distributions here in the SGV, while also giving back to Operation Healthy Hearts, Matilija Collective, and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
⚠️ Please note: Nucleus is primarily a figure drawing space, so there may not be tables, and chairs will not be available for guests coming only for food.
