Today, on the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District remembers the 2,977 innocent people whose lives were taken:

• 2,753 people in New York City
• 184 people at the Pentagon
• 40 passengers and crew members aboard Flight 93

Among those lost were 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority police officers, and other emergency personnel who answered the call without hesitation.

Today, we honor every life lost, the courage of those who ran toward danger, and the families, survivors, and first responders whose lives were forever changed.

Twenty-five years have passed, but our promise remains the same:

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
