๐Ÿšฒ Algonquin parents are stepping up, and it shows.

More and more families on our streets are checking their kids' e-bikes against Illinois law before letting them ride. They're asking the right question: Is this actually a low-speed e-bike, or an Out-of-Class Electric Vehicle that needs a license, title, and insurance?

Here's the quick test the smart parents are running:
โœ… Working pedals + motor under 750 watts
โœ… Class 1, 2, or 3 (cuts out at 20โ€“28 mph)
โœ… Class 3 riders are 16+
โœ… Ridden where it's allowed - off-road on private property, NOT village roads, sidewalks, bike lanes, or paths

If your child's "electric dirt bike" tops 750 watts, runs on throttle only, or breaks 28 mph, it's not an e-bike under Illinois law; it's a motor vehicle.

So, make this week's promise: before your kid rides, you'll run the check. Comment "โœ… I checked" below - the parents who say it out loud are the ones who follow through, and their kids notice. ๐Ÿ’™

In the past week, two workers lost their lives while working to keep Illinois moving. They were simply doing their jobs, bettering our communities and working to keep the public safe. They expected to return home to their families, but they did not. Our hearts go out to their loved ones, our partners at the Illinois Tollway, and everyone impacted by these tragedies.

Again: Slow down. Put down the devices. Respect the people working to keep our roads safe. Give them space. These simple actions WILL save lives. https://idot.click/7h2
