It’s that time of year again… despite the snow melt and recent rainfall, the vegetation above ground level is still brown and dries out quickly. Be sure to check local city or county ordinances prior to burning. If you do burn, please consider weather conditions and burn responsibly.

Chief was out of town this weekend, and while we were doing our cold water rescue training, we thought.. you know, red and white is just too boring for a firetruck. Naturally, we knew Chief was a Packer fan. I hope he likes the change!

If you saw us out and about today… no need to worry! Some of our members were out practicing for ice and cold water rescue. We were lucky to find a little left over ice, but remember… no ice is 100% safe, especially this time of year!

I know we’re all sick of moving snow… With modern building materials every second counts in a building fire, especially if there are people trapped. The average fire engine has a 500-1000 gallon tank, and can usually pump around 2,000 gallons per minute. If you have a hydrant on your block, try to keep them clear!

Another reminder, check your exterior home vents!! It can happen to anyone!

Reminder of the updated parking restrictions in the city - see below.

We also want to extend a big THANK YOU to the city and county plowing crews working the long hours! We’ve had multiple calls over the past 3 days and couldn’t have made it to the scene or to/from the hospital without your help!

Also… a second thank you to Kewaunee Rescue for assisting on a mutual aid call today while one our main unit was out on a call and the other was out of service for maintenance. We appreciate the assistance!

Finally! Thank you to Algoma Motors for getting our other unit back into service so quickly!

There’s nothing better than living in a small community… it’s been a rough past few days, be sure to check on your neighbors and lend a hand if you’re able!
