Members of AE Crandall gathered on the campus of Alfred University last evening for the annual Chief’s Dinner. Members were recognized for years of service, new leadership announced, and special awards for meritorious service presented.

The annual burn ban goes into effect Monday. Spring winds can spread wildfires quickly.

Spring is nearly here, and so is the annual burn ban. As the snow melts and temperatures rise, New York State is at an increased risk of wildfires in the spring. In effect from March 16 through May 14, the annual burn ban prohibits residents from burning vegetation and brush with few exceptions.

The Allegany County sheriff has issued a travel advisory for the county. Travel is strongly discouraged.

Neighbors, please help keep fire hydrants clear and accessible.

In preparation for the snowstorm coming on Sunday, the Mayor and the Village Board request no unnecessary driving or parking in the village so that our road crews can try to keep the roads cleared for emergency vehicles. Thank you for your cooperation.

Congratulations, Nancy!

Former Mayor, Becky Prophet and current Mayor, Jim Ninos, honored Dr. Nancy Furlong with the prestigious Alfredian award for a lifetime of outstanding service to our community, to Alfred University, and in particular to AE Crandall Hook & Ladder Co. as an EMT, firefighter, and two terms as chief. Nancy was the first female fire chief in New York State, and the first female chief of a volunteer company in the nation (if not the world!) Congratulations and thank you, Nancy!

Breakfast with Santa 2025 was a big success! A special shout out to our donors and to Ryan AJ and the Alfred State Hockey Team (pictured below with Santa) and Gamma Theta Gamma for all their work on set up and cleanup!
