Jackson County Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 3043 is hosting a BBQ fundraiser to support our brother, Firefighter/Paramedic Chase Maddox, and his family as he continues down the long road to recovery. Every meal purchased, donation made, and share of this post will help ease the financial burden on Chase and his family during this difficult time.

🚒 SUPPORTING ONE OF OUR OWN

Firefighter/Paramedic Chase Maddox and his family are navigating a serious medical situation that has changed their lives in ways no family can fully prepare for. As Chase focuses on his health and the road ahead, his family is also facing the financial burden that can come with an unexpected medical crisis. Right now, Chase and his family need help from the community he has dedicated himself to serving.

Chase has dedicated himself to a profession built around showing up for others on some of the hardest days of their lives. Right now, we have an opportunity to show up for him.

Jackson County Firefighters IAFF Local has organized a GoFundMe to provide direct financial assistance to Chase and his family as they navigate the road ahead. As we celebrate our nation's independence, Alford Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone to make safety a priority while enjoying the festivities.

🔥 **Firework Safety Tips:**
• Always follow local laws and regulations regarding fireworks.
• Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby when lighting fireworks.
• Never allow young children to handle or ignite fireworks.
• Only light one firework at a time and move away quickly.
• Never relight a firework that fails to ignite.
• Keep spectators at a safe distance from all fireworks activities.
• Dispose of used fireworks by soaking them in water before placing them in the trash.

🚒 **Protect Your Community:**
• Avoid parking vehicles in a way that blocks roadways or emergency access.
• Report any fires or emergencies immediately by calling 911.
• Be mindful of dry conditions and avoid activities that could start wildfires.

UPDATED 5/12/26: Burn Ban Lifted for Jackson County

During their regular meeting on May 12, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners voted to rescind the countywide burn ban that was previously put in place due to dry conditions and elevated wildfire risk.

Following recent rainfall and improved conditions, officials determined it was safe to lift the restrictions based on guidance from the Florida Forest Service and Jackson County Fire Rescue.

Outdoor burning activities may now resume in accordance with Florida Forest Service regulations and applicable safety requirements.

Even with the burn ban lifted, residents are encouraged to continue exercising caution when conducting outdoor burning and to remain mindful of weather conditions and fire safety practices.

Thank you to the community for your cooperation during the burn ban period and for helping protect Jackson County during heightened wildfire conditions.

🔥 Burn Ban in Effect for Jackson County 🔥

At tonight's meeting, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners enacted a burn ban due to current dry conditions and increased wildfire risk, based on recommendations from the Florida Forest Service and Jackson County Fire Rescue.

🚫 What’s prohibited:
All outdoor burning, including yard debris, bonfires, campfires, warming fires, outdoor fireplaces, and the use of items that create sparks (like fireworks), is not allowed.

🔥 What’s allowed:
Cooking with a contained gas or charcoal grill
Approved burns by the Florida Forest Service
Firefighter training exercises

🚓 Enforcement:
Fire Rescue and local law enforcement will respond to violations and ensure compliance.

This temporary measure is in place to protect our community, first responders, and natural resources during a period of heightened wildfire risk.

The burn ban will remain in effect until conditions improve.
