Here is my recent essay, comparing the American Baseball World Series to how the Electoral College design serves to select our Presidents. For example, in the 1960 World Series the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the New York Yankees 4 games to 3. And yet in those 7 games the Pirates scored only 27 runs while the Yankees scored 55 runs! The most games win!

My recent radio interview on how the Electoral College helps to ensure that rural as well as urban voices are heard. LA County has more people than 41 of our states, New York City has more people than 39 of our states. Nine states host 50% of our population. How are American cities fed? By farmers who need thousands of acres of land to feed them. When we see how we need each other we will keep our Union strong and sustained.

On this edition of Freedom & Prosperity Radio Joe Thomas is joined by Michael Maibach, Distinguished Fellow with Save Our States, to discuss why we need to defend the electoral college system. My interview on the negative, anti-republican (small "r") effects of At-Large local Virginia elections in Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, and Charlottesville. At-Large local elections - by their nature - create one-party rule forever, silencing neighborhood voices as we have seen in Alexandria. Ironically, only the majority party which has been voted into office by At-Large elections have the power to reinstate City Council Wards. Where monopoly power takes root, citizen alienation and government corruption arise.

At-Large Elections are something few people know anything about, but they are one way to keep a political party in power. This may help explain why Northern Virginia has become and will likely remail "blue." Listen to this fascinating discussion with Michael Maibach, Distinguished Fellow and member....

Alexandria City Council candidate Darryl Nirenberg is a smart, experienced citizen who will bring a fresh voice to our too-often unresponsive City Council. Plus, Darryl supports returning to City Council Wards (vs. At-Large elections) to give every one of our neighborhoods a voice! "No Taxation Without Neighborhood Representation!"

Alexandria used the City Council Ward system from 1804 to 1950. In 1950 "massive resistance" against school desegregation in Virginia led our City Council and others to move from neighborhood Wards to At-Large city elections. This insured that certain neighborhoods would be silenced on City Council. At-Large elections by their nature produce ONE PARTY RULE, which we have today. In 2021 we must support candidates for Mayor and City Council in both parties who support a return to City Council Wards. "No taxation without Neighborhood Representation!" We need candidates for Mayor & Council to stand up and change this!

There is no single starting date for Alexandria's local election season, and by local election we mean the June 8 Democratic primary in this one-party town. Maybe it's Jan. 1 with the advent
