Earlier this week Tonya and I had a fire at our home. A couple of our storage sheds burnt to the ground. I would like to thank everyone that came to help; from our family, friends, neighbors, deputies and our volunteer fire departments.

I would like to give a special thanks to Ms. Kelsee Bordelon, Kelsee was the first one on the scene and without hesitation, she quickly responded by herself and started to fight the fire. Even though we lost thousands of dollars of materialistic items everyone was safe and we want to thank God for that!

I would like to thank Mr. Mike Scanlan, Mr. Kirk Savoy and team with The Louisiana Charities Trust; for the donation to The Shriners Shreveport Hospital.

I was happy to be able make the trip today and be a part of this great donation. The donation was made in honor of the great late Sheriff William Earl Hilton.

Sheriff Hilton and myself both being Shriners have always understood the importance of this program. This is by far my favorite organization, when it comes to helping a child there is no boundaries that we should stop at, Our children are our greatest assets in life!

I wanted to make this post just incase it is to keep one person from being taken advantage of. This person has apparently purchased some sort of prepaid phone and is pretending to be me throughout our parish. If you get this message please disregard and do not give them any information.

We will be investigating this incident and getting to the bottom of it.

Please share so that people can be aware especially our senior citizens.

Thank you all,
Sheriff Wood

We had our Annual Golf Tournament yesterday and all I can say is WOW! A great time was had by all and one of our largest yet.

I would like to thank all of my friends, family, and supporters who always show up and show out! ⛳️ ⛳️

I want to personally thank all of my fellow deputies who always put so much time and dedication into this tournament every year. Without your help it would not be possible!

Happy Easter to you all, thanks be to God! He is risen indeed! 🐣 🐰

I have been blessed to have a lot of great people in my life. Today I lost one that was not only a friend but a mentor. I was blessed enough to be able to call him many different titles throughout my life but Friend was the most important!

Sheriff Hilton and I spoke just about everyday, some days it ended in a laugh and some days not so much but there was always tomorrow’s phone call.

I will miss tomorrow’s phone call Boss, thank you for everything you have done for the department, the parish and all of us in it!

Rest In Peace my faithful friend!

Roxie Wood Rachal

Roxie Wood Rachal, age 70, of Gardner, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 8, 1954, in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Reverend Willie Lee Wood & Katherine Marler Wood.

Roxie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of the Lord. She was married to the love of her life, Michael Rachal, for 53 wonderful years. Together they raised two sons, Joseph Lee Rachal & wife, Ashlee, and Jeffery Lane Rachal & wife, Sarah. Roxie was a proud and loving grandmother to Hunter, Halston, MaKinley, Samuel, and Makayla Rachal, and Macee and Colter McMillin.

She is also survived by her siblings: Col. Michael Lee Wood & wife, Donna; Sandra Wood Pressley, Debbie Wood Boykin & husband, Carey; and Sheriff Mark Wood & wife, Tonya.

Roxie was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Willie Lee Wood & Katherine Marler Wood, and her beloved father-in-law & mother-in-law, Joseph Ivy Rachal & Agalice Dunn Rachal.

Roxie’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family. She faithfully served the Lord with her church family at St Clair Baptist Church and was best known for her delicious Sunday dinners and being her grandkids biggest cheerleader.

A visitation will be held at St. Clair Baptist Church, 940 St. Clair rd., Boyce, Louisiana, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, beginning at 6:00 PM, with funeral services following on Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM. Reverends Randy Ellis, Joey Rudisill, and Alton Achord will be officiating. Cemetery services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Gardner, Louisiana. Services are under the compassionate care of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Pallbearers honored to carry their “Little Granny” to her final resting place will be her beloved grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Wood Havens at Legacy in Po***ck, Louisiana as well as Compassionate Care Hospice for their exceptional care during Roxie’s final days.
