🔥 ALEXANDRIA THROUGH THE YEARS 👨‍🚒

A Tradition of Service

In February 1900, Alexandria residents came together with a simple goal: to help protect their neighbors. This article from the Johnstown Weekly Independent, dated February 22, 1900, tells the story of a meeting to organize an Alexandria fire company.

The new company gave local residents a way to respond to fires faster and in a more organized way.

That small beginning grew into the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department, which served our community for a century. In the late 1990s/early 2000s, the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department became part of the St. Albans Fire Department, which provides fire protection and emergency services to the village today.

More than 125 years later, the names and equipment may have changed, but the reason for having a fire department hasn't:

Neighbors helping neighbors. ❤️

🚗 DID YOU KNOW? 🚗

We've seen some discussion online lately about parking near corners and driveways, so we thought we'd clear up a common question.

No Village ordinance doesn't mean no rules. Ohio law still applies.

Alexandria doesn't have a Village rule that says how far you must park from a corner. But Ohio law does have rules about where you can park. For example, you can't park in front of someone's driveway or where your car blocks traffic.

And sometimes, being legal isn't the same as being a good neighbor. If you park near a corner, driveway, or narrow street, take a look around. Can your neighbor get out? Can cars get by? Can people see around your car?

Most parking problems can be solved by being a good neighbor. ❤️ If yours can't, the Licking County Sheriff's Office is available to help with Ohio traffic law.

A little extra room and a little neighborly kindness can go a long way. 🤝
