Congratulations to Jennifer Tyler for being named one of 50 educators across Louisiana selected for the 2026–2027 Aspiring Principal Fellowship through the Louisiana Department of Education!

Over the next year, this fellowship will prepare future school leaders to step into the principalship.

By the time they finish, fellows walk away with a completed leadership portfolio, hard-earned insight from some of the state's most effective school leaders, and a professional network reaching across Louisiana! 👏

Good food, great company, and a whole lot of gratitude. That's how we'd sum up this year's RAPAP annual luncheon!

A heartfelt congratulations goes to Mr. Donald Welch, this year's recipient of the Allen Nichols Award, recognizing his outstanding service as an educator and community leader.

Recent retirees were celebrated for the lasting impact they've made on so many students:
💫 Mrs. Kimberly Bryan, Assistant Principal at L.S. Rugg Elementary School.
💫 Dr. Cheronda Cooper, Assistant Principal at C.C. Raymond Junior High School
💫 Mrs. Shannon Carmouche, Principal of Alexandria Middle Magnet School
💫 Mr. Bob Stevens, Principal of Poland Junior High School
💫 Mrs. Christy Roberts, Principal of Ball Elementary
💫 Mrs. Jenifer Scott, Principal of Bolton Academy

Three scholarships were awarded to:
💫 Eva P. from Alexandria Senior High
💫 Tucker L. from Tioga High School
💫 Bailee H. from Buckeye High School

The best part of this event was watching colleagues past and present reconnect over lunch, swap stories, and celebrate the work that brings us all together!

Some decisions are hard because the options are so good. For recent ASH graduate Clark Wright, the choice came down to all three U.S. military service academies—because he was accepted to every single one.

After conversations with mentors and family, Clark applied to West Point, the Naval Academy, and the Air Force Academy so he could weigh his options and make the best decision for his future. The result was something few applicants ever experience: three acceptances.

Getting into even one academy is a feat. Clark earned his place by passing a rigorous physical fitness test, proving himself academically with a strong ACT score and GPA, and securing nominations from a U.S. Congressman and Senators.

He chose the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, where he plans to major in aeronautical engineering and pursue his goal of becoming a pilot. After four years at the Academy, Clark will be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force, followed by five years of active-duty service.

"I want to do something that will benefit others, and I think it's great to be around people who are trying to better themselves," he said.

Clark credits his family for his work ethic and his ability to handle setbacks. He's an Eagle Scout—joining his dad, grandfather, and several cousins—and two of his uncles are West Point graduates who served as colonels.

Throughout high school, Clark honed his mindset with his sights set on growing and serving.

His advice to future applicants? Seek out leadership opportunities and "find people who push you to be better." Clark points to his former co-captains on the ASH cross country team: one at West Point and the other at the Naval Academy." Being in their company, all working towards goals of winning meets and pushing ourselves, was so helpful to me."

Congratulations, Clark. We can't wait to watch you fly!

🎥 Don't miss the final installment of LPB's Louisiana Young Heroes, featuring recent Pineville High School graduate, Maylie S.!

Maylie was one of only seven students chosen statewide for this honor! 🌟

As the Louisiana Teens Speak Up! representative through the Epilepsy Foundation Louisiana, Maylie is turning her own experience with epilepsy into action. She traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with Congressional offices, advocating for the more than 54,000 Louisianans living with epilepsy. Closer to home, she's met with Governor Jeff Landry's office, the Louisiana Department of Education, and Supt. Powell to push for seizure recognition and First Aid training in schools.

Watch her inspiring story and see why she's a true Louisiana Young Hero!

We're proud to shine a light on some of the remarkable students and teams across Rapides Parish who are raising the bar and showing what's possible when talent meets hard work. Please join us in celebrating their achievements that were highlighted at our May board meeting!

💫 The Pineville Junior High and J.I. Barron Archery Team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Centershot Western National Archery Tournament, earning 2nd place overall. The team also placed in the top 20 at both the 2026 Western National Archery Tournament and the 2026 3D Western National Archery Tournament — a remarkable showing across three national competitions.

💫 Pineville’s Lady Rebels softball team dominated John Curtis to secure the program’s 8th state title, and the first since 1998!

💫 The Bolton Academy Drone Team has had a remarkable season, competing in five tournaments across La. & Miss. and winning the teamwork championship at every single one. The team then traveled to Slidell for the Louisiana State Championship, where they won both the Teamwork Championship and the Judges' Award. From there, they headed to Huntsville, Alabama for the Southeast Regional Championship, where the high school team earned 2nd place in teamwork and the middle school team captured 3rd in teamwork.

💫 Clark W. from ASH applied to all three of the nation's premier service academies — West Point, the Naval Academy, and the Air Force Academy— and was offered appointments to all three. He has chosen to accept his appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.

💫 Hannah F., a student at Bolton Academy, served as the 2025–2026 Louisiana Society Children of the American Revolution State President. She recently attended the National Conference in Washington, D.C., where she represented Louisiana's 120+ members, reported on her activities as state president, and presented her state project.

💫 Special Guest, Bailee H. from Buckeye High School represented her school as the student of the year. She has impressive credentials as a student and is also involved in several sports, clubs, and organizations. She will attend Louisiana Tech and major in history and political science with plans to attend law school.

💫 The ASH JV Cheer Team won the NCA Freshman JV Virtual Championship despite the last-minute change due to winter storm Fern.

We're so proud of all of these students!
