American Legion Post 24, Old Town Alexandria, Virginia

American Legion Post 24, Old Town Alexandria, Virginia Veterans strengthening America. The American Legion’s success depends entirely on active members. A museum and Gadsby's Tavern occupy the other two buildings.

First formed under another name in 1919, Post 24 has existed as Post 24 since 1920. In 1929, WW I veterans restored and preserved the 18th and 19th Century three buildings that form Gadsby's complex. In 1972, Post 24 gave the complex to the City of Alexandria and now occupy one building. We call it George Washington's Post because visiting Post 24 means seeing buildings that were visited by three centuries of American veterans.

Alexandria police are asking for the public's help locating an 83-year-old man reported missing Sunday and described as a critical missing person.

Harold "Buck" Adams was last seen around 8 a.m. in the 500 block of Pendleton Street, the Alexandria Police Department said.
Adams is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 180 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who has seen Adams or knows where he is should call 911 or the police department's non-emergency line at 703-746-4444.

ALIVE needs volunteers!!!

Saturday, June 6th, help support two important ALIVE! efforts happening once!

Office Move Volunteers (8AM - 1PM)
Help ALIVE move into their new office space! Volunteers will meet at our current main office, assist with loading furniture, boxes and office supplies onto trucks, and then travel to the new office location and help unload and organize items.

OR

Furniture Program Volunteers (8AM - 1PM)
Seeking volunteers to support the Furniture Program. Volunteers will assist with loading, unloading, and moving furniture that will help families in our community to furnish their homes.

Volunteers need to be comfortable lifting and moving items, working as part of a team, and making a direct impact in our community.
