Happy New Year! We hope the holiday season went well for all of you. The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault survivor assistance programs have opportunities for people to start off 2020 making a difference. If you're interested in volunteering, there are still positions available and trainings will start later this month.

The Shower for the Shelter is a Target drive that aims to help the Domestic Violence Program replenish their supply of items for the women in the safehouse.

October was Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Commission participated in the Oakland Baptist Church's annual Walk it Out Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. We also had success with Pam's Pies fundraiser for the Art on the Avenue last month. It raised $1,200 this year, which will be donated to the Vola Lawson Breast Cancer Memorial Fund. The fundraiser was held in honor of long time pie baking organizer Pam Fitzgerald, who passed away recently due to breast cancer.
