With winter weather moving in, APD reminds everyone to slow down and stay safe. Bridges and overpasses can freeze before you realize it. If you don’t have to be out, please stay home. If you must travel, reduce speed, increase following distance, and make sure your phone is charged and someone knows your route.

The Alexandria Police Department is grieving alongside the Sheriff’s Office and offers sincere condolences to the deputy’s family, loved ones and fellow officers.
Deputy Tim Jordan was a graduate of the 82nd Alexandria Regional Police Academy and served with APD for 3 years.

"With the potential winter storm approaching this weekend, I urge our residents to prepare now rather than wait. Make a plan for elderly family members, ensure pets are protected and take steps to cover exposed pipes. Forecast models remain uncertain, but temperatures are expected to stay below freezing for several hours and we should prepare accordingly." Chief Chad Gremillion

January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month
Human trafficking awareness is one of the strongest tools we have to prevent it. Knowing the warning signs and speaking up can make a life-changing difference.
⚠️A person appears fearful or controlled by someone else and avoids eye contact
⚠️Someone is not allowed to speak for themselves or another person answers all questions
⚠️Lack of control over personal identification, money, or transportation
If you suspect trafficking, contact local law enforcement or the National Human Trafficking Hotline:

The ALEX-CAM Connect Program is a voluntary way for residents and businesses to partner with the Alexandria Police Department by registering their security cameras.

Registering your camera does not give APD access to live video or recordings. It simply lets investigators know a camera may be nearby if an incident occurs, allowing them to reach out and request footage when appropriate. This partnership helps streamline investigations and support timely responses when needed.

Learn more and register your cameras today:
