Losing (or lost) your religion? CLASS Healthy Living for All is starting a group for you beginning November 4th.

Whether you have been traumatized by being exposed to controlling beliefs that led you to fear, guilt, or shame or experienced manipulation or exploitation within a religious community; were subjected to physical or sexual violence by a human in the church; were cut off from family and friends; or faced prejudice or discrimination because of religious beliefs, you are welcome to attend this FREE group called FIRST TUESDAY.

We've heard your stories, seen your tears, hurt and shame, and we want to be a safe space for you. Thanks to DC Sills, a talented, loving, generous pastor, activist, volunteer, and self-proclaimed heretic, CLASS will offer this group at 6 pm on the First Tuesday of every month.

Healthy Living for All....your body, your mind, your spirit...it all matters. We ALL matter. YOU matter.

PARADE your PRIDE! Bring your family members, friends, allies for CENLA PRIDE WALK on SATURDAY, JUNE 14th! We'll gather on 4th Street near Tamp & Grind Coffee to stroll through downtown streets as we make our way to the Randolph Riverfront Center for the OPENING of a full day of Pride activities. Wear your Pride! If you want to make a poster with friends and allies, join us at the Randolph Riverfront Center FRIDAY night from 6-9 pm. We'll have free poster making supplies available.

DON'T forget that we GATHER at the END of the WALK for a BIG group PHOTO !

We'll need BANNER CARRIERS and FLAG BEARERS to VOLUNTEER too!

A little over 25 years ago, a bright young man walked into the office of CLASS to interview for the job of Office Assistant. I was impressed. I was more impressed when he followed up with a hand-written card thanking me for the interview. I still have that card.

Hiring Robby was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. He’s grown over the years to become an HIV and STI Counselor&Tester, a Trainer of Trainers, implemented our Wellness Clinic, organizes Cenla Pride (now in its 11th year), and continues to make sure financial assistance is delivered to our clients, invoices are submitted and the agency’s bills are paid. He is now the Director of Prevention and RW Program Specialist and CLASS wouldn’t be where it is today without him. Friday, March 21st is his 25th Workiversary at the agency. Please join me in thanking him for his many years of service. Here’s to many more….and to growing older together. Thank you, Robby!

Shame and stigma have no place in our work to end the HIV epidemic in our community. HIV is a VIRUS and with the appropriate diagnosis and treatment, people who have HIV can lead long, healthy lives and once their viral load reaches undetectable levels CANNOT TRANSMIT HIV to their sexual partners. People who are HIV negative can access PrEP services and REDUCE their risk of contracting HIV by 99 percent when the medication is taken consistently as prescribed.

We've been made aware of a post on Facebook that claims to expose the identities of people who may have had sexual contact with someone who may have died as a result of HIV infection. One of the commenters on the post even suggested that people watch people who visit our office to learn the identities of people living with HIV in our community. Wouldn't it be better to LEARN MORE about HIV, TALK to your sexual partners about HIV, PROTECT your own health, and GET TESTED? It's free at CLASS Healthy Living for All.

NEVER make assumptions about people who visit our office. CLASS offers a variety of services including free HIV and STI testing, PrEP services, GBT Wellness Services, balance, Fresh Works and yes, even supportive services for people living with HIV. YOU CAN'T TELL someone has HIV by looking at them.....GUESS WHAT? They look JUST like YOU and JUST like ME.
