Engine and Truck 11 were part of a large multi-jurisdictional backfill of Prince George’s County Fire Department’s firehouses. This allowed PG’s units and personnel to attend and participate in the funeral for Firefighter/Paramedic Demair Lloyd. It is always an amazing feat when many different departments from different states can come together to help each other out. The men and women of the Penn Daw Firehouse wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family of FF Lloyd and to the PG County Fire Department.

Also thank you to the Burke VFD for graciously allowing us to borrow their Bravo Engine, as there were no reserves available in the county. We will return her as soon as possible.

Congratulations to Lt. Matt Black (Rescue 6/B) on your retirement. The 19th was Matt’s last working day for the FCFD. Matt’s career spanned over 29 years. He got on the job and began his career as a probie at Co.37, promoted to HazMat Tech at Co.11, made Lt. and assigned to Tower 5, transferred to Rescue 19, Tower 1, Rescue 21 and ultimately completing his career at The Pride of the Highway as the boss of Rescue 6. Matt has been a member of the Hazardous Materials Team, Technical Rescue Team, VATF-1 and USA-01 throughout his remarkable career. All the men and women here at the Penn Daw Firehouse want to wish Matt and his family a long, happy and healthy retirement!!! Don’t be a stranger Matt. You know the coffee is always hot and there will always be a seat at the kitchen table for you.
