Last month, Progreso hosted a Citizenship Clinic in partnership with the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). During the clinic, volunteers and legal professionals assisted individuals and families with completing their citizenship applications, helping ensure eligible residents had the support they needed to take this important step toward becoming U.S. citizens.

As national conversations around immigration and citizenship continue, local community-based support remains essential. United Community is proud to stand alongside immigrant families and help strengthen pathways to citizenship, civic engagement, and opportunity for all.

Thanks to our partnership with the "Mount Vernon for All" initiative, our Progreso students had the special opportunity to visit the historic ahead of the 250th anniversary. This trip was a part of their citizenship learning experience and gave the students a better appreciation of the history of our nation.

📣 Stock the Block is happening this Saturday from 10:30am - 1pm at the Gerry Hyland Government Center!

United Community is proud to again participate in this year's event hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in DC, MD, and VA, Lazera Ministries, and Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services — a day dedicated to supporting our neighbors and strengthening our community.

Last year, more than 2,500 families across the greater Alexandria area received household essentials and hygiene items through this incredible drive-thru and walk-up distribution event. Families received cleaning supplies, diapers, formula, flour, toilet paper, toothpaste, and more — helping ensure everyone had access to the basics they need. And last—but definitely NOT least— wouldn’t be complete without recognizing our amazing Pre-school teachers: Ms. Lo**ta, Ms. Alberta, and Ms. Jasminka!

These preschool teachers have one of the biggest jobs around: getting our little learners ready for kindergarten… while somehow trying not to cry when it’s time for them to graduate. 🥹🎓

Their classroom is filled with music, movement, laughter, and LOTS of personality. From teaching kids how to keep rhythm to their favorite songs to sparking hilarious and thoughtful conversations during “Question of the Day,” they know exactly how to make learning exciting, engaging, and fun.

To all of our United Community teachers—whether you are teaching in our Early Learning Center, leading citizenship classes, supporting language learners, or helping families reach their goals—THANK YOU. 💛

You inspire confidence, create opportunities, and help children and families grow, learn, and thrive.

We were thrilled to receive a generous donation of Little Libraries for our United Community Early Learning Center and Food Pantry!

These help to inspire a love of reading, encourage learning, and make books more accessible for the children and families we serve in our community. Access to books helps build literacy, sparks imagination, and creates meaningful moments of connection for families.

It is our pleasure to introduce our fabulous Preschool teachers: Ms. Shemu, Ms. Pacita, and Ms. Sumana! 💛

Life in the 3-year-old classroom is BUSY—in the best way possible! Between dance parties, yoga sessions, science experiments, and learning to count in English, Spanish, Bangla, and Tagalog, there is never a dull moment. 💃🧘🔬🌎

At this age, children are growing into confident little personalities with BIG questions, endless energy, and lots to say. These teachers help guide that growth every day by encouraging independence, building friendships, boosting language skills, and turning curiosity into learning adventures.

They somehow manage to teach counting, calm chaos, solve toddler debates, and keep up with 100 “why?” questions before lunchtime—and that deserves a standing ovation. 👏
