One of the proudest moments as a teacher is seeing your students grow, thrive, and achieve their dreams.

That moment came full circle for Ms. Alberta and Ms. Lo**ta when a former student returned to visit them before his high school graduation. Years ago, they helped shape his earliest learning experiences. Today, they had the joy of celebrating this incredible milestone.

We are so proud of all he has accomplished and grateful to have been part of his journey from the very beginning. Congratulations, Isaac! 🎓✨

When Hadley Belk first arrived at United Community, she was looking for her first real glimpse into the world of social work.

What she found instead was something much bigger: a chance to help
people feel seen, supported, and empowered during some of the most uncertain moments of their lives.

For Karla Rodriguez, the journey looked different but led to the same place. After years of working in the hospitality industry, COVID-19 prompted her to pivot her career path toward social work — motivated by personal loss, resilience, and a desire to help others navigate hardship with dignity.

Together, the two interns became part of United Community’s Family Achievement Program (FAP), where they helped launch the Job Confidence Series, a workshop initiative designed to help clients build confidence, resilience, and practical skills during the job search process.

"I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for taking the time to speak with me on Friday. You are truly a saint! It was such a pleasure to have a genuine and REAL conversation with someone who not only listened but also understood the challenges of my current situation.

Your kindness, compassion, and willingness to help meant more than I can adequately express. Navigating everything has been overwhelming at times, and speaking with you gave me a sense of hope and reassurance that I haven't felt in a while." - Jenni L.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey.

Last month, Progreso hosted a Citizenship Clinic in partnership with the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). During the clinic, volunteers and legal professionals assisted individuals and families with completing their citizenship applications, helping ensure eligible residents had the support they needed to take this important step toward becoming U.S. citizens.

As national conversations around immigration and citizenship continue, local community-based support remains essential. United Community is proud to stand alongside immigrant families and help strengthen pathways to citizenship, civic engagement, and opportunity for all.
