1915 Polk Street Little Free Library

1915 Polk Street Little Free Library The Matlock House is situated at 1915 Polk Street in the Alexandria Garden District. Built circa 1900 by the Edwards family and passed to niece Mrs. Mair.

James Matthew Edwards (1851- 1904) and Ellen Wynn Edwards (1851-1930), originally from St. Landry Parish, built the home in Alexandria, Louisiana between 1897 and 1904. Their children were Theodore Glen Edwards, Sr. (1876-1954) who married Irene (1895-1978) and Alexander Edwards (1878-1922). Theodore Glen Edwards, Sr. & Irene had two children Theodore Glen Edwards, Jr. (1914-?) and Frances Edwards

(1918-?). James Matthew Edwards' oldest sister Louisa Hudspeth Edwards (1837-1930) and his niece Alice May Edwards Mair (1873-1963) lived with Ellen Edwards as well.
