Before the volunteering began, more than 2,000 people sat down for breakfast together.

That’s how United Way of Utah County kicked off its Day of Caring, bringing volunteers together before they headed out to serve across the community.

As reported in the The New York Times, United Way’s 211 data shows requests for food assistance rose at least 20% last year in multiple states. Behind those requests are people making difficult choices to meet basic needs.
