Dyslexia is a language-based learning difference, NOT a vision problem.
Dyslexia is a result of individual differences in areas of the brain that process language, meaning we have difficulty identifying speech sounds and learning how these sounds relate to letter and words.
So, although dyslexia and vision problems can co-occur, dyslexia is a brain processing issue and NOT a vision problem.

Too often, we assume a child isn’t trying hard enough when reading is difficult. The reality is that many children with dyslexia can become successful readers when they receive explicit, structured, multisensory instruction designed for the way they learn.
When we change the instruction instead of expecting the child to change, confidence grows, frustration decreases, and reading becomes possible. Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed with teaching that supports their unique way of learning.

Dyslexia is more than a struggle with reading and spelling. ❤️

Let’s move away from defining individuals by their challenges and instead focus on the incredible strengths they bring into the world.

Everyone with dyslexia deserves to be recognized for their creativity, problem-solving skills, imagination, resilience, and unique perspective, not just the areas that are difficult for them.

When we shift how we view dyslexia, we help those with dyslexia shift how they view themselves. 💚

Dyslexia doesn’t define who someone is. It shapes experiences, builds resilience, and often reveals incredible creativity, problem-solving, and determination. When we celebrate the whole person instead of focusing only on the struggle, we help build confidence that lasts a lifetime.

Let’s celebrate strengths, encourage growth, and remind every child and adult with dyslexia that their story is one of possibility—not limitation. 💙
