Aldan Police Officers along with area Fire Companies responded to a reported house fire in the Borough yesterday. Upon arrival, Officers encountered an active kitchen fire with a heavy smoke condition. Officers ensured that the residents of the home were safely evacuated and provided shelter to them from the cold in a police vehicle. Officers continued to safely evacuate additional residents from an attached apartment house as fire units arrived on scene. Volunteer fire personnel from Collingdale, Clifton Heights, Glenolden along with Darby did an excellent job with a quick response and subsequent fire suppression. No injuries were sustained in this incident and the Red Cross is assisting the residents.
On Friday, January 20 at 1624 HRS, Company 33 along with Clifton Heights Fire Company and Glenolden Fire Company Station 5 were alerted to a reported house fire on the 200-Block of West Providence Road in Aldan. Quint 33 was dispatched, responded and arrived on scene within 5 minutes as first arriving apparatus.
Crews discovered a kitchen fire, with minor fire extension into the walls, cabinets, and ceilings. First in crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire, which was placed under control around the first 10 minute mark, while being held to the room of origin.
Crews operated for a total of approximately one hour before returning available. No injuries were reported.
