On the campaign trail, David Cobb came to visit us in Albuquerque, where we held a meet and greet for him at the UNM SUB. This poster, speaking for herself, found him to be a dynamic and forward thinking candidate, now a Green not-so-elder elder gone too soon.

The Green Party lost a good one today - David Cobb. Too young. 2004 Green presidential candidate Co-founder of Move To Amend.

From the Green Party website: David Cobb is a "people's lawyer" who has sued corporate polluters, lobbied elected officials, run for political office himself, and been arrested for non-violent civil disobedience. He believes we must provoke—and win-- a peaceful revolution for a peaceful, just, sustainable and cooperative society if we are to survive.

David was born in rural Texas and worked as a laborer before going to college and Law School. He maintained a successful law practice in Houston for almost a decade before devoting himself to full-time social change efforts.

In 2002 David ran for Attorney General of Texas, pledging to use the office to revoke the charters of corporations that repeatedly violate health, safety and environmental laws. In 2004, he ran for President of the United States on the Green Party ticket and forced a recount in Ohio that helped launch the Election Integrity movement.

In 2010 he co-founded Move To Amend, a campaign for a constitutional amendment to abolish the illegitimate, court-created doctrines of "corporate constitutional rights" and "money equals speech." In 2016 he served as the Campaign Manager for Jill Stein's presidential campaign.

Cobb works at Cooperation Humboldt and is a member of the North Coast People’s Alliance and serves as a Fellow for the Liberty Tree Foundation for a Democratic Revolution.

The Green Party of the United States deeply mourns the passing of David Keith Cobb on Labor Day 2026. David's impact on the Green Party, the larger social and political movements and for many individual organizers and activists across the country and generations will be a lasting legacy. Green Party accomplishments of note are David's 2004 Presidential campaign and as campaign manager for the 2016 Stein/Baraka Presidential campaign. The party extends condolences to his loved ones"

New Mexico Supreme Court issues stay on Air Permit Hearing and water pumping for Project Jupiter

We updated our previous post to reflect this information, but this good news is worthy of its own post. The state Supreme Court issued stay last night. The NMED Hearing Officer disqualified himself after claims of bias filed against him. For the short term, this means that the public meeting in Santa Teresa scheduled for September 14 will probably be postponed.
