It’s important to make water consistently available for bees - Lanny emptied this fountain to clean it and was immediately surrounded by buzzing bees - they weren’t aggressive or stinging - they were just letting him know to hurry up and fill it back up - when he did, hundreds swooped in for a drink!

¡Celebremos! Happy Cinco de Mayo from Bike In Coffee and the Reginal Chavez Elemntary School Mariachis!

If you have ever had to pay for parking on the weekend at the farm- just know that 100% of those proceeds go straight to this program, (and always have)!

Visiting Old Town Farm is like entering another world. Huge cottonwood trees help wall off the 12-acre property from the outside world. Snaking through the trees are centuries-old irrigation ditches that provide sustenance for fields where bees levitate over snapdragons and sunflowers. In the midst....

Cooking food over a fire is alchemy at its finest. The fire imparts a unique charred flavor unlike anything else that could be achieved by cooking in a modern-day kitchen. The caramelization and crispy edges create something truly irresistible. And most importantly, this type of cooking draws people in. When you smell that sweet char in the air, it's like something primal is unlocked.

There are many names for this style of cooking — asada, grilling, BBQ (and much more). They are all the epitome of a communal gathering. Everyone loves to gather outside around an outdoor feast — whether it's for burgers, sweet summer corn, or campfire s'mores. People have gathered for hundreds of years to enjoy food cooked over fire.

This type of cooking does take some skill and knowledge. While I love being part of the experience, I tend to let my male partner be the lead. But grills and fires are not just for men; they're for everyone. So, if you'd like to sharpen your skills (me!) or experience the alchemy magic, I hope you'll join us for our cooking class next Wednesday.

We are bringing in a real pro to lead this class. Chef Nathan Mayes ( is the head chef of the award-winning restaurant Paloma and his new pop-up Manaña taco. He is even competing in the 505 Food Fight finale on Monday! I am so excited to learn from Nathan, as he has many years of experience as a chef and is also a kind, humble person.

During this special class, you'll learn how to make flavorful marinades for meat, chicken, and mushrooms and cook them over the fire to achieve that quintessential asada char. We'll also grill veggies for a fire-roasted salsa! Then we'll put it all together to eat some incredible tacos.

This experience will take place at the beautiful Old Town Farm (where takes place). I have wanted to partner with them for years, so I am thrilled to be hosting a class here! Old Town Farm is a serene little oasis off the Rio Grande filled with tall trees and greenery. We could not think of a better place to have an early fall evening cooking class.

Welp, it’s official. Our work was on full display in Times Square, New York City.

Our dear friend and client Caitlin, who works for Paychex, was selected to have a photo up during the opening bell at Nasdaq (she was one of 30). So naturally, she submitted a photo of her and her husband Jeff that we took at Old Town Farm.

Congrats, Caitlin. Amy and I love you guys.

Along with our crane buddies, we wish you the best of holidays! See you next year! Which is soon....
