International Aid Workers Society

International Aid Workers Society The International Aid Workers Society is a collaborative network of professionals and volunteers that provides support to aid workers and their families.

Like soldiers, aid workers often spend long periods of time in hazardous and stressful conditions. Most are unpaid or underpaid, and when they return home many find it difficult to reintegrate into their communities. There is very little support for the psychological, financial and health concerns aid workers bring home with them. That’s where we come in. IAWS is dedicated to providing training, a

dvocacy and support for the people who put their lives on hold and in danger to help those who are experiencing disaster and crisis. IAWS has four program categories:

Training and Preparation
Field Operations Support
Return and Recovery
Advocacy and Research

We may sound ambitious here at IAWS, and we are. We’re completely dedicated to developing networks and constantly improving what we offer; we’re working toward becoming the leader in supporting the world’s humanitarians. We believe that without them, we’d all be in trouble.

It is unfortunate and sad that I must say that in light that the IAWS board has chosen to not continue its secessions, that IAWS needs funding that it can't compete with, and that our volunteers can't seem to find the time to simply volunteer, I have decided that it is time to meet reality and disband IAWS until a better time. I apologize to those who have donated and who have supported this cause that is still very needed and important. I believe that I have done what I can as a executive director, who has never started a non profit, much less ran one, to try and make this possible. Fact is that this idea and dream was and is way larger than myself. I need a solid team of like minded people to take it off the ground. But I have come to realize that this will not be made possible in Albuquerque. Perhaps somewhere else in the future. And perhaps next time I can get more likes on Facebook if I put cats in the background of our pictures which I can't believe I didn't think of until now.
