2025 Summer Opera Camp – Newsletter

First Meetings

The first meetings, to hear the kids sing, will be Fri. May 16 (5 - 8 PM) & Sat. May 17 (12 – 3 PM) at the Heights First Church of the Nazarene, near the NE corner of Barstow and Paseo del Norte [address; 8401 Paseo del Norte NE]. THIS IS NOT AT THE SANDIA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. Come to one meeting or the other. Go to the eastern side of the church and park in the dirt lot [NOT THE MAIN ENTRANCE]. There will be a sign on the entrance door. We will ask your child(ren) to sing something so we get an idea of their vocal range and where to place them in the production. Although not required, we prefer that they prepare a piece to sing with sheet music for the accompanist.

We will hand out scores and CDs of the music. If you prefer, MP3 files of the music can be downloaded from the following link:

This will enable the kids to get familiar with the music before camp. Please let us know in advance if you prefer a CD so we have enough copies on hand.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

· You can come any time within the meeting times, but you can reserve a time slot by emailing us your ½-hour time preference at [email protected]: this can save you a long wait for your turn.

· Please pay the tuition when you come to a meeting: bring either cash or a check (made out to Opera Unlimited). The tuition is $100 for the entire camp: there is a 10% reduction for families with more than one camper and for a family that brings new children to the camp.

· Please let us know if you are unable to come to either of the first meetings, so we can arrange an alternate time to hear your child(ren).

We will hand out a camp schedule at the meeting. We will notify the kids who will have principal parts before rehearsals begin. All rehearsals are from 1-4 PM. Rehearsals run from June 9 – July 10, with performances on July 11 and 12.

We are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
