We are deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Andy Hsi, a former Voices Board member, tireless advocate, and extraordinary pediatrician.

For decades, Dr. Hsi dedicated his life to improving the health, well-being, and future of New Mexico's children. His voice was a trusted one in the Roundhouse and beyond, where his testimony on public health, child welfare, juvenile justice, and child development earned respect across political lines.

Even after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just months ago, Dr. Hsi never stopped advocating for children and families. He continued to challenge policymakers and the public to look beyond simplistic solutions and address the root causes affecting young people's lives, including behavioral health, family well-being, and childhood adversity.

Dr. Hsi believed deeply that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. His wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment to justice made New Mexico a better place.

We are grateful for his years of leadership and service to New Mexico Voices. As we mourn this tremendous loss, we also recommit ourselves to carrying forward the vision he championed: a New Mexico where every child can grow up healthy, safe, and supported.

Rest in peace, Dr. Hsi. Your legacy will continue to guide our work.

: Our office is taking a look at the state's reliance on the oil and gas industry. 45% of New Mexico's revenue comes directly from oil and gas, leaving our budget vulnerable to the boom-and-bust cycles of global energy markets.

This reliance has delivered significant benefits, but it also carries potential risks. Learn more in our latest blog ➡️ https://ow.ly/aCXU50Z2RAv

Child care workers in New Mexico have a crucial role in supporting our children's development and the economic well-being of our working families, but low wages often make it hard for them to stay in the field. That's why we're joining OLÉ NewMexico on Monday, May 11 for the 2026 Day Without Child Care, to call for higher wages for child care workers in our state. RSVP here ➡️ https://ow.ly/whbs50YWEAU
